PHDEM 502 Management of the School System

1ST Semester, SY 2021-2022

ACTIVITY 10

Name: MARIEL R. TAPADERA Date: October 17, 2021

Yr/Section: PHDECEd 2nd year

ACTIVITY:Read documents about SIP and AIP. Submit 10 insights or learning points for
SIP and AIP.

After reading the PPT lecture about SIP and AIP, I learned the following:

1. Being a school head is not easy, because the thought of SIP made me realize that a school
head should also be an accountant in order to keep everything in financial balance for the
entire three years.

2. SIP is required under Republic Act 9155 – Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001
(Section 6.2.4), Republic Act 9184 – Procurement Law (Article II Section 7), and DO No. 44
s. 2015 – School Improvement Planning Guidebook.

3. Because SIP is a cycle, this means it is a continuous process that necessitates ongoing
monitoring.

4. SIP is a prerequisite in SBM or School-Based Management since it includes three

components: access, quality, and governance.

5. There are always ways to measure quality, such as when we want to see how well a
teacher teaches, we can look at her RPMS, when it comes to learner performance, we can
look at the NAT results, and school leaders can also base it on the RPMS indicators.

6. I discovered that AIP is only a component of SIP, that there are three AIPs in a SIP, and
that implementation takes three years.

7. Monitoring and evaluation benefit SDOs, ROs, and CO units by informing them about the
curriculum, learning materials, and equipment's applicability.

8. There are always means of verification, particularly documents, to monitor and evaluate
a specific goal established by a school, such as looking at the Phil-IRI Post Test Results to
see the reduction of Non-Readers in Grade 2. When I was in DepEd Cabanatuan City, I gave
the Phil-IRI Pre-Test, and those who scored 14 or lower were subjected to a reading
remedial/intervention program, and when I gave the post-test, I was pleased to see that
their scores had improved significantly.

9. There should be an output in each phase of the RPMS cycle.

10. I discovered that the IPCRF was also a part of the SIP monitoring, as I had previously
assumed that the IPCRF was only used to track my performance each year.
