Paragarph 1: INTRODUCTION
In the introduction we give general information saying
when, where and how we first met them (use Past Simple
and Present Perfect).
Par. 2: PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
When describing physical appearance you should give
details in the following order: height, build, age, facial
features, hair, clothes, accessories (from more general to
more specific). Use Present Simple
Par. 2: PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS
When describing character or behaviour,
give examples for the description (use Present Simple).
When you write about negative characteristics, be careful
and diplomatic.
Par. 2: ACTIVITIES S/HE TAKES PART IN: HOBBIES,
INTERESTS
Try to give typical information and interesting facts about
the person
(use Present Simple)
Par. 3: CONCLUSION
Write your comments and feelings about him / her (use
Present Simple)
Paragraphs should be developed and linked together with a
variety of linking words which indicate the flow of your
thoughts. Make your composition more interesting by using
a range of adjectives and intensifiers.
Examples
Who is the person you are writing about? When, where and
how did you meet?
Jack has been my close friend for two years. I first met him on a
school trip to Kent. I asked him the way to the library and we
started talking. We've been friends ever since.
I've known Julie since my first day at school, when we were only
five. I can remember her smiling face as the teacher , Mrs Snow,
asked me to share the same desk with her.
What does s/he look like?
Julie is quite short and slim. She's got a round face with
beautiful almond-shaped eyes and a slightly upturned nose. She
often wears her shoulder-length fair hair in a pony-tail. Julie
prefers comfortable clothes and can ofter be seen wearing a
blue jumper, a pair of denim jeans and trainers.
What kind of person is s/he?
Jack is very outgoing. He is always friendly and loves to have
fun. He's got a fantastic sense of humour and he always makes
me laugh. However, he can be a bit immature at times. For
example, when he doesn't get what he wants, he acts childishly
and stamps his feet.
Although Julie is quite reserved, she is a kind person who will
listen to your problems and try to help you. She is also quite
active and enjoys outdoor activities.
What are his/her hobbies / interests?
Jack is very keen on water sports. He likes sailing and he spends
a lot of time on his boat. He enjoys scuba diving too, and loves
exploring life under the sea.
One of Julie's favourite hobbies is cycling. She also enjoys
reading people's horoscopes and trying to predict what will
happen in the future. Julie likes going to the cinema and is
especially fond of adventure films.
How do you feel / think about him/her?
All in all, I'm gald to have Jack as my friend. It's a pleasure to be
with him and I really enjoy his company. I'm sure we'll always
be close friends.
Over the years, I have shared many good times with Julie. She
has been one of my best and most trusted friends. I feel
fortunate to have met her.
