Analysis: What’s implication of the Rizal-del Pilar rivalry to Rizal’s nationalistic ideologies?

The conflict between the two arose upon del Pilar taking place of Jaena’s role in the La
Solidaridad as editor. This happened during the end of the year 1890. The conflict arose due
to the Rizal’s comments on the editorial policies, which were deemed to be contrary to Rizal’s
political viewpoints. This would lead to a vote among the members in the organization to
decide which policies to be used. However, upon winning, some “Pilaristas” within the
organization still did not like the situation leading to Rizal leaving the role instead. This shows
that even at times where we must be united in order to achieve a goal, differences must be
set aside between the members of a team to function properly. In this case of the
propaganda, people were divided by influences of their leaders as well. A strong implication
of this case is that no matter how much power a leader’s influence has on an organization, if
it cannot unite its people then it will surely lead to disarray of team function.
