Test 2. Analysis. Identify an approach/method that matches with the principles given. Then
explain how the approach/ method observes the principle.
Appropriateness of method – 3, Justification – 3, Language - 3

1. The teacher’s job is not The approach being used here is the Learning Strategy
only to teach language Training wherein it talks about the different strategies or
but to teach learning. technique in learning or acquiring knowledge.
In relation with the approach being used, this principle
explains that the teachers should not only teach language
or even other topics but also how to learn those things with
the use of strategies. We all know that strategies could be
of great help in learning things easier and faster. It is also
better that in the process of learning, students’ senses
could contribute by having some demonstration or other
on-hand activities.

2. The class activities have This principle is under the Task-based Language Teaching
a perceived purpose wherein it talks about engaging the students in learning by
and a clear outcome. having different tasks or activities. In addition, interaction in
this method is also important for it will helped the students
achieved the tasks.
In teaching language, it is important for the teachers to
introduced the purpose and outcome of the activities or
tasks to make it more meaningful. For example, giving
them the task that will enhance their communication skills
by asking to their classmates or teachers and at the same
time, completing a task.

3. Learners work with Content-based Instruction

meaningful, cognitively The method used here is the Content-based Instructions
demanding language which aims to master both language and content. It is to
and content within the encouraged learners to learn both of the important aspects.
context of authentic In classroom, this principle could be applied in reporting
material and tasks. activities in which the content is being focused by the use
of language. In that way, both are being practiced and
learned. It could be by using models for example in science
subject, the anatomy of human body, in this activity,
students are able to analyze and explain the content by
using language.

4. In communicating, a Communicative Language Teaching

speaker has a choice The method used in this principle is the Communicative
not only about what to Language Teaching (CLT) that aims to teach learning with
say, but also how to say the use of target language. Communication in the
it. classroom is the main goal of this method with the use of
target language with regards to its forms, structure and
functions.
This principle is concern about what and how to use
language appropriately. The speaker indeed is responsible
in making his/her statement clear to his audience. In the
classroom, it could be in the form of dyad answering
questions related to the topic and given the time to justify
using the target language.

5. Spoken language Total Physical Response

should be emphasized This method belongs to Total Physical Response which
over written language. emphasizes how the meanings of target language are most
understood by demonstrating some actions.
In the classroom, we can have it by modeling or
demonstrating so that the meaning would be easier to
meet. In that way, students can imitate it and use it on their
own experiences. That is why spoken language associated
with actions are the best than pure writing for it will create
meaningful output as the students both enjoyed learning
content and language. Because if it is written language, the
students are just passive will be just acknowledging the
language without any active participation.

Test 3. Evaluate how each of the following approaches/methods is effective in developing the
students’ level of pronunciation, communicative competence, comprehension and self-
confidence?
Pronunciation,-3 communicative competence-3, comprehension -3, and self confidence -3
Language -3 = 15 points each.
1. Desuggestopedia As far as I remember, desuggestopedia talks about the
suggestions in the pedagogy of the teachers. This
method helps to overcome barriers most especially
psychological. It is important to have an environment
which is conducive for learning so that the students can
understand those input easily and effectively.
In pronunciation, desuggestopedia can provide
instructional materials that offers right pronunciation of
the words. They can imitate it so that it can be able to
enhance their competency in terms of communicating. In
terms of comprehension, it can be suggested also by
having some pictures of what this word really means. So
having this desuggestopedia could improve learning and
will definitely helped them to be confident upon
communicating.

2. Grammar translation What I have learned in this method is to use the native
language to better understood the meaning of every word
in the target language. This method develops
comprehension.
By translating the words in student's native language, it
will help them to be familiar with it and be able to help
them speak and write their native language better.
Because of such method, it increases their
communicative competency because they understood the
words, it enhances their comprehension and they can use
it confidently in their everyday experiences.

3. Audiolingual method Audiolingual method is the method that uses drills or

patterns to helped students practiced target language that
they can used in an authentic context. For example, using
this grammatical pattern asking ‘How are you?’ and ‘I’m
okay’ as response.
For me, teachers here play a role in speaking the target
language first then followed by the students and in that
way, students can imitate how the words should be
pronounced. By having drills, students can develop their
comprehension in an interesting way. They can also
construct sentences by having patterns they have learned
throughout the drill teachers gave them.
