overall coordination and balance.
C. Phillipine Indigenous Sports and Games
1. Tumbang Preso

Every Filipino child knows this game. All you need to play tumbang preso is a slipper and a tin can. The person who is “it”
guards the tin can, and each player takes turns trying to hit the can. Once a player hits the can, they must retrieve the
slipper and the “it” will place the tin can back in position. If the player does not hit the can, he will become the next “it.”

2.Patintero

Patintero is a game that involves many players. They are divided into two teams. This is one of those traditional Filipino
games you can often see children play on the streets. Horizontal lines are drawn to signify the position of the players on
Team A. A vertical line is drawn across the horizontal lines and one player is assigned to that line.

This is similar to the game of tag. The objective of the game is for members of Team B to cross all the lines and go back
without being touched by any of the players assigned to the lines. The members of Team A can only move in the
direction of their assigned line.
3. Luksong Baka

Luksong baka literally means “jump over a cow.” The player assigned to be the “it” plays the cow. He starts off crouching
as low as he can while the players jump over him. Gradually, the “it” rises or moves up. If one of the players does not
leapfrog over him successfully, that player will become the new “it.”

A variation of this came is called luksong tinik or jump over thorns. In that game, two players line up their feet and hands
to make a tower while a third player tries to jump over.

4. Piko

Piko is the Pinoy version of hopscotch. They throw the pamato, which is usually a stone or small ball in one of the boxes
drawn out in chalk. Whoever successfully throws and retrieves the stone wins the game.
5. Agawan Base

Agawan base is popular among elementary school students. There are two teams who are each guarding their “base.”
The objective of the game is to tag or touch the base of the opposite team without being caught by that team. If you are
caught, you become their prisoner. Your own team members may rescue you by tagging you from the enemy’s base. The
teams set an agreement of how many tags they can do before being declared winners

6. Bahay-Bahayan

This game is not limited to Filipino culture. Playing house can be seen in many children’s games across the globe. The
Filipino version is called bahay-bahayan.

7. Chinese Garter
Chinese garter or Chinese jump rope is popular among grade-school girls. All you need is a long garter. There are two
teams in this game. This game starts off easy, with the garter very low to the floor, and everyone in the playing team has
to cross from one side to the other by jumping over the garter. After each round is cleared, the garter progressively
moves higher and higher. If one of the playing team members does not successfully jump over the garter, the other
team gets their turn to play.

8. Langit-Lupa

Langit means heaven and lupa means earth. The “it” has to stay on the earth while the other players try to stay in
heaven. The “it” has to try tagging the players so that they stay on earth and become the next “it.”

9. Sawsaw Suka

In sawsaw suka, one of the players places his index finger in the palm of the other player’s hand and he sings a chant.
Once the chant ends, the player with the open palm has to try to catch the index finger.

1. How do you avoid dehydration when playing in any sports?

When engaging in endurance sports, the best way to avoid dehydration is to obey your thirst. You should drink when
either your mouth is dry or when you feel a physical need for it.
You should never drink for the sake of drinking. Overhydration can hurt your performance almost as much as
underhydration. During extended, strenuous exercise, having a sports drink on hand to help replace many of the
electrolytes lost in sweat. Doing so lowers the risk of hyponatremia in which the salts in your body are abnormally
diluted.

2. In what sport is hypothermia common?

Hypothermia is a common phenomenon even in elite swimmers competing in relatively warm water temperatures.
Therefore, hypothermia could be an important medical concern in open-water swimming events, and measurement of
core temperature may be a key concern to physicians during an open-water swim event.

3. If you are going to organize a sport fest, what are the events that you would include? Briefly describe your plan.

Planning, managing and organising a sporting event can be daunting, especially if you’re working on a shoestring budget.

With help from Clare Hartley from Pentathlon GB, we present 14 tips to help you plan a fun and enjoyable sports event.

1. Get organised

The first thing you need to do is write down all the details of the event.

What is the event for?

What practical elements will you need?

Which type of space will you require?

What is the budget for the event?

What is the purpose of the event?

Having everything down on paper will help you consider all the event’s requirements from the very start and give you a
clear direction on how to proceed.

Using a handy online project management tool, such as Trello, can help you plan your event from start to finish.

2. Select dates

Choosing the right date is vital. You want to make sure that they don’t clash with other local events in your area. You'll
also need to ensure you have enough time to pull your resources together to make the event a success.

The more time you leave yourself to plan your sports event, the more time there is to promote and gain traction for it.

3. Choose a venue

Your venue should have enough capacity for your needs, should be secure and should be convenient for your attendees
to get to, whether it be indoor or outdoor.

Consider if traffic and parking could be an issue beforehand, especially if you have participants and spectators travelling
to attend your event.

It’s also important to make sure that you have all of the necessary permissions to hold an event.
4. What is phosphocreatine and how does it work?

Phosphocreatine, also known as creatine phosphate (CP) or PCr (Pcr), is a phosphorylated creatine molecule that serves
as a rapidly mobilizable reserve of high-energy phosphates in skeletal muscle, myocard and the brain to recycle
adenosine triphosphate, the energy currency of the cell.

5. How the FITT principle apply to sports?

F.I.T.T. stands for frequency, intensity, time and type. These four key aspects of your workout program will help you
achieve your athletic goal, whether it's to increase your endurance, strength or speed. Here is an in-depth look at what
each means and how to modify it to make athletic gains on the field.

DIFFERENT DANCES
1. Ballet

Tutus, pointe shoes and men in tights are what come to mind when someone mentions ballet. Yet Ballet is so much
more than that. Said to be the most difficult genre to master, ballet is a rigorous style of dance that is the foundation of
most forms of dance training. It is usually set, but not limited to, orchestrated music and is often the first dance style a
child will experience as they begin their dance classes. Ballet shoes are usually worn until the dancer's feet have
developed enough strength to progress into pointe shoes, often happens around the age of 12 and only after the
students have been given permission by their teacher. Ballet is an excellent teaching tool for all dancers as it is a
complex mixture of technique, coordination and musicality.

2. Tap
Tap is best described as "musical feet". Tap is a form of dance where dancers use their feet as percussive instruments.
Tap shoes are that are specially designed with percussive metal plates on the toe and heel, called taps. There are many
different styles of tap dancing however the two most noted are Rhythm Tap and Broadway Tap. Rhythm Tap is more
musically driven, where Broadway Tap is more dance and movement-oriented. Tap is great for fostering rhythm in
dancers, as it turns their feet into a musical instrument.

3. Jazz

Jazz is the most popular style of dance among dancers. Jazz combines all dance styles in a high energetic dance that is
without conventional boundaries. It has been influenced by ballet, modern, tap, hip-hop, African dance and many more
styles. Jazz is most often accompanied by upbeat, currently popular songs. Jazz shoes typically have a leather split sole
which offers the dancers foot more freedom to bend and move. Due to the upbeat music, dramatic themes and cool
choreography, it isn’t hard to see why this is the most popular dance style!

4. Modern

Modern was said to be first created as a rebellion against classical ballet. A raw style of dance, modern dance is an
expression on the dancers' relationship to the floor, including methods of contractions, release and movement, as well
as the dancer's of breath. Modern dancers have a variety of shoes to choose from that allow freedom in the foot while
providing protection from the floor. Though its roots are in opposition to the seemingly oppressive rigour for classical
ballet, modern and ballet are closely linked in the complexity of technique, coordination and musicality.
5. Lyrical

Though the basis of lyrical dance is ballet merged with jazz and modern. It is dynamic while simultaneously subtle, and
focuses on conveying feelings and emotions through movement. Set to popular songs that emphasize deeper feeling and
emotion, such as grief, longing, love and despair. Lyrical shoes provide protection for the dancer while allowing them to
feel the dance floor as much as possible. Though proper dance techniques are important, the true heart of lyrical is
found in its expressive nature.

1. Pick one dance that you know and describe it.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is an edgy, raw and intense urban dance style also known as Street Dance. The origin of popping, locking and
crumping, Hip Hop is mostly danced to rap, urban and not surprisingly, hip hop music.

2. Pick a dance that you are interested to learn and write why you are interested in it.

Jazz is very upbeat and fun. You are straight and sassy and always moving around. My second favorite is Ballet. Ballet
is as graceful as a swan. It is delicate and soft. Ballet is very mellow and pretty. It is like a floating leaf dancing in the
wind . . . " -

3. Explain how one can vary intensity of a physical activity.

The intensity of different forms of physical activity varies between people. The intensity of physical activity depends on
an individuals previous exercise experience and their relative level of fitness. Consequently, the examples given below
are provided as a guide only and will vary between individuals.

4. Describe in detail. What is the variation principle?

Variation Principle suggests that minor changes in training regimens yield more consistent gains in sport performance.
Training programs for virtually every sport include variations in intensity, duration, volume, and other important aspects
of practice. ... Training in phases, or periods, is called periodization.

5. Explain how Health-Optimizing Physical Education concepts can be used to stay fit through a dance program.

Keeping dancers free of injury is a crucial aspect and will help a lifetime of healthy physical activity and can prevent
injuries in the future.
RECREATINAL ACTIVITIES

What is recreation?

Recreation consists of activities or experiences carried on within leisure, usually chosen voluntarily by the participant –
either because of satisfaction, pleasure or creative enrichment derived, or because he perceives certain personal or
social values to be gained from them. It may, also be perceived as the process of participation, or as the emotional state
derived from involvement.

1. Why is it important to follow safety procedures when playing any sports?

The Importance of Rules in Sports. Rules provide an agreement of understanding to competition. In sports, rules define
what is allowed or not allowed to occur during situations on and off the court. Rules govern anything from wearing
proper uniforms to how to keep score during games of different levels of competition.

2. What kind of water sport have you tried? Describe your experience.

My favorite watersport is a banana boat ride. It is a group watersport which you can enjoy with your family or friends. I
tried this watersport with my friends at Calangute beach. The boat used for the ride was an inflatable boat resembling
the shape of a banana and was pulled by a speed boat.

3. Describe the Prediction Equation formula. Indicate what it measures.

The accuracy of 6 resting metabolic rate (RMR) prediction equations to indirect calorimetry was compared in 38 Hispanic
women (age = 30 ± 7 years; body mass index = 28.9 ± 7.2 kg/m2; body fat = 42% ± 8%). Paired t tests examined
differences between predicted and measured RMR; significance defined as P < 0.05. Bias and agreement were displayed
using Bland-Altman plots.

4. What is the Rate of Perceived Exertion? Describe what it measures.

The RPE scale is used to measure the intensity of your exercise. The RPE scale runs from 0 – 10. The numbers below
relate to phrases used to rate how easy or difficult you find an activity.

5. If you are to organize a fun run, what arebthe steps that you will do prepare? Describe in detail.

If i were to organize i will follow this:

Establish a Reliable Fun Run Planning Team.

Find a Great Location for the Fun Run.

Consider the Event Timing.

Engage Media and Publicity.

Recruit and Motivate Fun Run Participants.

Utilize a Nonprofit P2P Website for Crowdfunding Events.
