VII. Attachment
1. Extension Materials
A. Definition of Disease (CVA)/Stroke
Stroke is an acute neurologic deficit caused by cerebrovascular disorders that
occur spontaneously sudden and can cause disability or death (Munir, 2015).
The definition of stroke according to the World Health Organization is a rapidly
growing clinical sign of impaired brain function. focal or global, with
symptoms lasting 24 hours hours or more, can cause death in the absence of
other causes other than vascular (Munir, 2015). From several definitions of
stroke according to the above experts can conclude that stroke is a disease or
disorders of the neurological system that occur due to lack of blood supply
oxygen to the brain can suddenly occur because of a blockage or rupture of a
blood vessel to the brain which can cause symptoms and even cause death.
Stroke is one of the diseases caused by bloodsucking on the brain so as to
make someone have the disease. This disease can affect everyone especially in
the elderly. At that age he is said to be vulnerable because range of diseases
such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and gout.
B. Factors Causing Cerebro Vascular Accident (CVA)/Stroke
There are several factors that increase the risk of stroke. These risk factors can also
increase the risk of a heart attack. These factors include:
a. Health factors, which include:
1.Hypertension
2.Diabetes
3.High Cholesterol
4.Obesity
5.Heart Disease
b. Lifestyle factors, which include:
1.Smoking
2. Lack of exercise or physical activity
3. Consumption of illegal drugs
4. Addicted to alcohol
c. Other factors, including:
1. Heredity factors. People who have family members who have had a stroke, are
at high risk of developing a disease that the same.
2.Russian factor: With increasing age, a person has a risk stroke is higher than
younger people.
C.Signs and Symptoms of Cerebro Vascular Accident (CVA)/Stroke
Symptoms of stroke are difficulty walking, speaking, and understanding, and
paralysis or numbness of the face, arms, or legs. Such as explained below:
a. Muscles: paralysis with weak muscles, difficulty walking, instability, coordination
problems, muscle stiffness, paralysis in one side of the body, or overactive
reflexes.
b. Visual: temporary loss of vision in one eye, sudden loss of ability to see, blurred
vision, or double visual display.
c. Whole body: tiredness, lightheadedness, or vertigo
d. Sensing: tingling or reduced touch sensation
e. Members of the body: lethargic or numb
f. Speech: loss of ability to speak or difficulty speaking
g. Facial treatment: numb or muscle limp
h. Also common: receptive aphasia, rapid out-of-control movements, confusion
i. Mental illness, difficulty swallowing, or headaches
D. Classification of Cerebro Vascular Accident (CVA)/Stroke
1. Ischemic Stroke (Stroke Blockage), the most common stroke:
a .Emboli Stroke: Blood clot or plaque that forms in the heart or large arteries that
are transported to the brain.
b. Thrombotic Stroke: Blood clot or plaque that forms in the arteries that supply
blood to the brain.
2.Hemorrhagic Stroke (Bloody Stroke)
a. Intracerebral haemorrhage: Rupture of blood vessels and blood enter the tissue
causing the cell-cell to die so that the impact on the work of the brain stops. The
most common cause is Hypertension.
b) Subarachnoid hemorrhage: rupture of a blood vessel close to the surface of the
brain and blood leaks between the brain and skull bones. The causes can be
different, but usually due to the rupture of an aneurysm can also make the
heartbeat become irregular.
E. How to Prevent CerebroVasicular Accident(CVA)/Stroke
The main way to prevent stroke is to adopt a lifestyle healthy. In addition, identify
and avoid existing risk factors, and follow the doctor's advice. Various actions
stroke prevention, including:
a. Maintain diet.
Eating too many salty and fatty foods can increase the amount of cholesterol in
the blood and the risk of causing hypertension which can trigger a stroke. Avoid
consuming salt excessive. The ideal salt consumption is as much as 6 grams or
one teaspoon per day. The recommended food is food that is rich in unsaturated
fat, protein, vitamins, and fiber. All nutrients can be obtained from vegetables,
fruit, whole grains, low meat fat like skinless chicken breast.
b. Exercise regularly.
Regular exercise can make the heart and circulatory system blood works more
efficiently.Exercise can also lower levels cholesterol and keep your weight and
blood pressure at the right level healthy.
c. Quit smoking.
Smokers are twice as likely to have a stroke, because smoking can narrows blood
vessels and makes it easier for blood to clot. Not smoking means also reducing the
risk of various health problems others, such as lung and heart disease.
d.Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages.
Liquor contains high calories. If consumed excessive, a person is susceptible to
various stroke-triggering diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension. Excessive
consumption of alcoholic beverages It can also cause an irregular heartbeat.
e.Avoid the use of drugs / chemicals.
Some types of drugs can cause narrowing of the arteries and reduce blood flow.
