A. Read different articles on assessment. Briefly report your learning on the

differences among assessment as learning, assessment of learning, and
assessment for learning. Make a sentence outline for this task.

Assessment For, As, and Of Learning

From what I have understood about the differences of assessment for

learning, assessment as learning and assessment of learning is that these three
is a matter of function and purpose and a matter of who. Assessment of and as
learning is a way to see what the students can do while assessment for
learning is a way to see what the teachers should do in response.

 "Assessment for learning" is "a type of formative assessment ... utilized

by teachers in order to gain an understanding of their students'
knowledge and skills in order to guide instruction."

My understanding about this is that it enables the teachers to determine or

control the next steps in advancing student learning, that is why teacher
needs to assess. Here, the teacher will be the one to evaluate and grasp the
idea the students and their individualized skills so that the teacher could
make instructions and create guide in the learning of the students.

Now, the teacher will assess each student’s improvement and learning in
relation to curricular results. Through assessing the student’s capabilities,
the ways that the teacher should to is to find mode of methods that suit in
the students’ skills and understanding.

 "Assessment as learning ... is also a formative assessment which

focusses on teaching students the metacognitive processes to evaluate
their own learning and make adjustments."

This model is all about giving guide and provide opportunities for each
student to monitor and critically reflect on his or her learning and identify
next steps. In this part, the teacher will put emphasis is through teaching
students the metacognition process means A student learns about what
things help him or her to remember facts, names, and events. A student
learns about his or her own style of learning. A student learns about which
strategies are most effective for solving problems.

Now the things that need to be assessed here are; each student's thinking
about his or her learning, what strategies he or she uses to support or
challenge that learning and the mechanisms he or she uses to adjust his or
her own learning.

 "Assessment of learning is a summative assessment used primarily to

compare students and report progress."

What I have understood from the assessment of learning is that we need to

assess learning in order for us to certify or inform others of student's
proficiency in relation to curriculum learning outcomes. This is the time that
the teacher will now show the results of the student’s hard-work and labor like
their grades in report card. This is now the model of assessing the learnings of
the students in a period of time.
Then, what to asses here is the extent to which students can apply the key
concepts, knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The assessment of learning involves
looking at assessment information at the end of the teaching and learning
process to rank students’ achievement levels against a standard. It is
summative in nature and typically involves standardized tests. Assessment OF
learning scores are often used to rate teachers’ or schools’ ability to move
student achievement based on the results of single, point-in-time tests

ANALYSIS

A. Analyze the following statement. Encapsulate your ideas as to what

assessment really is.

“No single assessment or piece of student work can provide educators,

students, parents, and the public with information about what students
know and can do.”

In education assessment is an essential part in weighing the learnings of

the students, their knowledge, competence and proficiencies and at the same
time knowing, determining and measuring the development of the student. We
need not forget that as mentor one of our hundredfold duties is to know the
growth of our student and hone their skills and what potentials they do have.
Basing from the tagline above what I can say is that it does takes vast
assessment in order for us to know the strengths and weaknesses of the
students. Given the fact that every individual is gifted, special and potentially
capacitor of knowledge and skills, therefore single piece of work will not define
every student but rather loads of works and assessment will eventually show
how everyone behaves and what volumes and capacities students have.
According to Gabuyo (2012) that assessment focuses on the development
and utilization of assessment tool to improve the teaching and learning
process. It emphasizes on the use of testing for measuring knowledge,
comprehension and other thinking skills.
This gives me the idea that assessment as an Educators we use this for
obtaining information and strategies for communicating the students which is
significant in synthesizing and discovering best instruction that will assist the
data for assessment and evaluation. Also, since we have learned that
assessment is one of the primary measurement tools in education, it is a
process that includes gathering information by giving test, conducting
interviews and monitoring behavior. From time to time teachers assessing
students in the process gives us idea what are the best way to do for out
student’s betterment.
Going back to the idea that every single learners are unique and capable
of doing things on their own that is why my comprehension and agreeing to
idea about the quote that states no single piece of work can define what learner
can for the particular reason of the circumstance is that learner are a diverse
beings and even how many time you assess them they will always grow and
develop. The more that they develop the more that they are capable or learning
something beneficial for them. And since we let them bloom and grow
therefore, we let them explore and refine their potentials.

APPLICATION

A. Instructions: Create assessment tasks for the following type of assessment according
to its nature and purpose using only one knowledge content (subject matter) of your
own choice. Be guided with the guidelines in making effective assessment designs.

1. Assessment AS learning
(create a formative assessment focusing on elicitation of students’ metacognitive
learning process)

TASK: Students will be given checklist and they needed to put check if the list that are
presented are in line with what they are capable of doing. They need to evaluate their
personal performance in every lesson in the subject Phases of Exercise.

INSTRUCTION: Students are given Self-checklist assessment survey. They are tasked
to assess their performance in every lesson by filling-out the checklist.

SAMPLE CHECKLIST
SUBJECT: FOUR PHASES OF EXERCISE

YES NO

1 I know how what are the four phases of exercise

2 I know how perform the four phases of exercise

3 I know what to perform first when doing exercise
4 I know exactly the sequence in performing exercise
5 I am capable of doing vigorous exercise
6 I do warm up before doing workout
7 I spend 5-10 minutes doing exercise
8 I can withstand heavy exercise
9 I have a normal body mass index
10 I can perform well the four phases of exercise

Students need to have checklist in order for them to assess their performance in
that particular lesson. Self-checklist survey in every lesson will be compiled and will be
submitted after the end of every unit.
Then, students are tasked to share their strategies, in class, on how they
improved their performance all throughout the duration of every unit.

Afterwards, teacher will share feedbacks regarding students’ self-assessment.
2. Assessment FOR learning
(create a formative assessment focusing on showcasing of student’s skills and
understanding as basis for improving the instruction)

Task: The students are tasked to create a video presentation by a group of 6

members, performing the proper and correct sequence of the four phases of
exercise through a dance exercise presentation.

Instruction:
In 1-4 minutes, video presentation, the students need to perform the following:
Warm-Up phase, Stretching phase, Work-out-Phase and Cool-down phase. With
music and proper exercise attire must be observed. No explanation during the
presentation. video must be posted in the Facebook Group.
