List of Sections and Statements of Policy
• List of Sections:
• Div 1 and Div II are added for Section XI
• Statement of Policy on the use of Certification Mark and
Code authorization in advertising
• In the last paragraph, The words “ASME Single” are added
ahead of Certification mark at two locations and below
Sentence is added at the end which is read as “ASME single
Certification Mark” now.
• General usage (of ASME Single Certification mark) is permitted
only when all of the manufacturer’s items are constructed
under the rules.

HG-100 General

HG-301.2 – Tubes
External pressure reference to HG-312.3 included
Minimum wall thickness is now 0.5 mm.
Design temperature requirement added. It shall be the mean metal
temperature as determined by the boiler manufacturer.
Water temperature restriction added for austenitic stainless steel
tubes. Shall not exceed 210OF.
All these are relocated here from other places in the Code Section.

HF-300.2M for use of design factor of 10 instead of 5 in formula
HG-502.3 below for calculating design pressure by using proof
tests.

• HF-301 Minimum Thicknesses


• Minimum thickness of any ferrous plate or pipe shall not be less
than 2.5mm (earlier 6mm) except for some notes.
• Alloy steel plates maximum pressure restriction of 80 psi now
removed.
• Added - Min. wall thickness for tube sheets (with rolled tubes)
remains unchanged: 6mm for ferrous materials and 8mm for
non-ferrous materials.
• Minimum thickness of any nonferrous plate or pipe shall not be
less than 2.5mm (earlier 3mm). Differing requirements based
on material grade are now removed.

• Tests to establish the design pressure of a cast Aluminum boiler
or boiler parts shall be witnessed by a certified individual.
• The form H-5A (MDR for boilers constructed from Cast
Aluminum) may be certified by designated responsible
engineering head of the manufacturer by signature or by some
other method. Earlier only signature was accepted for
certification.
• Requirement for notarizing the signature is now removed.

remaining notes are renumbered.

May be in 2021!!)

• High Temperature limit control restriction of 210oF is now
removed. There is still an incomplete sentence “The
temperature range of the high temperature limit control.”
which will hopefully be removed in the next edition in 2021.

• Article 9 Modular Water Heater Requirements


• This is a new addition to the Code Section in 2019 Edition
covering special requirements for modular water heaters and
parts thereof. This article is to be used in conjunction with Part
HLW.
• A single name plate is to be provided for the assembled
modular water heater.
• When individual modules are certified on single data report, the
serial number of each individual module shall be listed in the
remarks section the of Master Data report.

• The assembled modular water heater shall not have any valves
installed between any module heat exchanger and the safety
valve. There shall not be any valves installed between the
modules.
• It should be provided with a single set of stop valves on the
inlet and return headers.
