The subject does the action. In the passive, the person or thing that the action was done
to becomes the topic or theme.
• The teacher is listening
student’s presentations. • Student’s presentations are being listened by the
teacher.

• The coronavirus has caused


many deaths. • Many deaths have been caused due to coronavirus.
Present continous passive

Active
Subject+ is/am/are+verb(ing)+ object.

Fumes from cars and trucks are polluting the air.

Passive
Object+ is/am/are+ being+ verb past participle+ preposition+ subject

The air is being polluted by fumes from cars and trucks.


Present perfect passive

Active
Subject+ has/have+verb past participle+ object.

Acid rain has eroded statues and buildings.

Passive
Object+ has/have+ been+ verb past participle+ preposition+ subject

Statues and buildings have been eroded as a result of acid rain.
