Experiment No 4
QSMVI using QT 200
Name: Soham Korgaonkar
Reg No: 18BEI0038
Code: EEE 1011
Slot: L45+L46
Date: 03/03/2021

Aim: To Perform QSMVI test to verify the functionality of an unknown IC.

Apparatus Required:
1. QT-200 Testing Equipment
2. Test Clip
3. PCB with the IC under test
4. Power cable for QT-200
5. Interactive Software and a PC

Description:
QSMVI is a technique used for capturing the voltage Vs current trace of a node
or pin (w.r.t to GND) by applying a current limited sine wave of selected
amplitude and frequency under Power off condition. The VI trace testing
requires no device test program to be written and hence is independent of the
functionality of the device under test unlike in-circuit functional test and out-
circuit functionality test. Hence, this test is an ideal tool for testing all custom
digital as well as analog devices such as transistors, resistors, diodes and
regulators.
Hardware Setup:

Procedure:
1. Switch on the PC having interactive software.
2. Ensuring that QT-200 test equipment in connected to the PC and to
power, switch it on.
3. Now, start the ‘Interactive software’ on the PC, and make sure that it
displays “online” (referring to the QT-200 successful connection to the
PC).
4. Choose QSMVI from the options presented in the Interactive software
window.
5. Connect the card edge connector to the QT 200 test equipment and
place the IC clip on the IC to be tested. NOTE-DO NOT PROVIDE POWER
SUPPLY TO THE BOARD.
6. In the new window which opens up, under the ‘UUT INFORMATION’
select the device as UNKNOWN and enter the number of pins of the
given IV.
7. Under CONNECTIVITY select CLIP-DIP14

8. . SELECT PIN COMBINATION: Here select the MOVING reference from

the two options available under TYPES OF COMBINATIONS and also
under the ON FAIL SEQUENCE select END from the given options. Then
click on OK
9. Then click on PATTERN SELECTION and in the new window select the
mode as AUTOMATIC and then click on START. After the process
completes click on CLOSE to come back to the main window.
10.Now click on LEARN so that the software learns all the properties of the
device.

11.. After the learn section is completed click on VERIFY and select ‘all
combinations’ upon which the verification process will start. . If the
device passes the test “UUT VERIFICATION Passed” will be displayed,
otherwise “UUT VERIFICATION Failed” will be displayed.

Conclusion:
The functionality of the unknown IC was verified successfully with QSMVI
technique using QT-200 test equipment.
