You are on page 1of 3

1- There is a product “A” whose technology is not proven commercially.

You’re a Process Engineer in

your consultancy firm and management asks you to develop a logical flow diagram for this product.
How will you proceed. Draw a diagram on Vision like you may have seen one for the design of heat
exchangers as under. Also, explain in detail the logical steps. (Submission 10th September)
2- Consider the following cases:
a. A liquid feed is entering a distillation column
b. Raw Materials are entering in a reactor.
c. Rotary vacuum filter has separated solid product from the solvent.

For each case, you can make as many assumptions as you like to develop process flow diagrams, on
vision, in such a way that above mentioned cases should fall somewhere between the process starting
and ending. There should be three different diagrams. Please use generic nomenclature in flow sheets
and specify the thermodynamic properties (less or higher volatile, gas or liquid or solid etc).

(Submission 20th October)

3- Develop a case study of your final year design project in line with Chapter – 3 “ Process Design
Development” and Chapter – 4 “Flow Sheet Synthesis and Development” from “Plant Design
and Economics for Chemical Engineers” by Peter and Timmerhaus.
(Anytime before End Term of 7th Semester in hard form)

Students Consultation Hours for these assignments:

Monday & Tuesday : 12 Noon to 2 PM.

4- With reference to your selected project please develop a chapter with the following details:
