I. Answer any FIVE of the following questions 5x2=10M
1. The radius of a circle is increasing uniformly at the rate of 3 cm/s. Find the rate at which
the area of the circle is increasing when radius is 10cm.
2. The length x of a rectangle is decreasing at the rate of 5cm/minute and width y is
increasing at the rate of 4cm/minute. When x=8cm and y=6cm. Find the rate of change
of perimeter of rectangle.

3. The radius of an air bubble is increasing at the rate of cm / s . At what rate is the

volume of the bubble increasing when radius is 1cm ?
4. The total revenue in Rupees received from the sale of x units of a product is given by
R  x   13x 2  26 x  15, find the marginal revenue when x  7
5. Find the rate of change of area of a circle w.r.t its radius ‘r’ when r  4cm.
6. A stone is dropped into a quiet lake & waves move in a circles at a speed of 4cm/s. At
the instant, when the radius of the circular wave is 10cm, how fast is the enclosed area
increasing.
7. A cylindrical tank of radius 10 meters is being filled with wheat at the rate of
314m3 / hr. Find the rate at which the depth of wheat is increasing.

II. Answer any FOUR of the following questions 4x5=20M

8. The volume of the cube is increasing at the rate of 9cm3 / sec . How fact is the surface
area increasing, when the length of an edge is 10cm?
9. A balloon, which always remains spherical on inflation is being inflated by pumping in
900cm3 / sec . Find the rate at which the radius of the balloon increases when the radius
is 15cm.
10. A ladder 5m long is leaning against a wall. The bottom of the ladder is pulled along the
ground, away from the wall, at the rate of 2cm/s. How fast is its height on the wall
decreasing when the foot of the ladder is 4m away from the wall?

rising at the instant when the depth of the water in the tank is 4m.
