Short and Sweet Play (Dialogue/Musical or Mix)

1. The category is a presentation of a short play in video with limited time and
number of characters in new normal way.
2. Performers will be limited to a maximum of six (6) Actors. No multiple
character role for an actor will be allowed. (DQ)
3. Language to be used may be pure or a combination of English, Filipino, or any
Philippine Language with English/Filipino subtitle in the video.
4. No limit of Production staff, Technicians, Musicians, Writer, and Director is not
required to be part of the maximum participants. (Included in the video credits)
5. Lines, whether spoken or sung, must be live.
6. Actors must perform live on stage/room or any secured and safety area. Must
follow the IATF health protocol.
7. Costume must be appropriate in the play.
8. The video must be the actual performance of the actors on the stage/area of
performance. The video or the camera should not be move or cut or edited. No
zooming in or out, no tilting or panning of the camera. The camera angle should
be on the judge perspective only. Only one (1) camera should be use. Video
editing is limited to title sequence, opening credits and post-credit only.
9. Play must be originally written for the competition. Video and script must be
submitted on or before the set deadline.
10. The play should depict or illustrate the theme “New Normal”
11. Prop:
a. Hand props is unlimited provided it is necessary in the play.
b. Unlimited movable set piece and platforms
12. Maximum performance/video time is ten (10) minutes including credits. (Point
deduction)
13. Light and sound effects can be used.
14. Black or white background only is allowed.
15. No huge prop, set, back drop is allowed.
16. Also, must submit a standard size POSTER of the play in jpg and PNG format for
social media purposes.
17. Decision of the judges is final.

Radio Drama

1. Contestants should present an original radio drama over a simulated or actual


radio station.
2. A maximum of 5 participants/voice actors including technicians. (DQ)
3. Voice actor may portray multiple characters behind the curtain.
4. Writer and Director is not required to be part of the maximum participants.
5. The drama must convey a moral or character-building theme on “New Normal”
6. Background music and canned sound effects may be used.
7. Lines, whether spoken or sung, must be live. All voice must be live.
8. Language to be used may be pure or a combination of English, Filipino, or any
Philippine Language with English/Filipino translation in the subtitle of the video.
9. Actors must perform live on stage/room or any secured and safety area. Must
follow the IATF health protocol.

Short Film
Definition: A short film is any motion picture that is short enough in running time not to
be considered a feature film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines
a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less,
including all credits". In the United States, short films were generally termed short
subjects from the 1920s into the 1970s when confined to two 35mm reels or less,
and featurettes for a film of three or four reels. "Short" was an abbreviation for either
term. Live Action Film A live action film uses imagery created primarily through
practical photographic techniques used to capture physical actors, props, sets, and
locations.

1. Motion picture must be a live action short film not more than 10 minutes including
credits.
2. A maximum of 6 actors and 4 production staff including director, writer,
videographer and editor. Production staff may/may not include in the 6 actors
maximum. Must be a bona fide students. (DQ)
3. Short films must be submitted to the organizer on mp4 format.
4. Short film must be original and produce for MASTS competition purpose only.
Not been released in YouTube and Social Medias.
5. Background music or sound effects must be free and none copyright claims
audio. Original music or songs is accepted.
6. Language to be used may be pure or a combination of English, Filipino, or any
Philippine Language with English/Filipino subtitle in the video.
7. The film should depict or illustrate the theme “New Normal”
8. Explicit content, scenes, language and action s will be the judge’s discretion.
Libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, sexually, racially, culturally, or
ethnically offensive, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, discriminatory or
abusive language or content will be screened.
9. Short Film must be originally written for the competition. Video must be submitted
on or before the set deadline.
10. Also, must submit a standard size POSTER of the Short Film in jpg and PNG
format for social media purposes.
11. Decision of the judges is final.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Films will be judged on originality, creativity, plot, pacing, structure, characters,


cinematography and entertainment value as well as on effectiveness of the message
and the ability of the film maker to reach an audience.

1. Originality (10 points) The uniqueness and originality of the premise or story.
2. Creativity (10 points) The effective use of imagination as evidenced in the entry.
3. Plot (10 points) The actions, events, conflicts, and turning points that propel the
story forward. How the story unfolds.
4. Pacing & Structure (10 points) The timing of the action, unfolding of plot
elements and character development. The framework of the film or script.
Effective use of three-act, odyssey, linear or non-linear story progression.
5. Characters (10 points)Personalities that are distinctive, compelling, multi-
layered, and unpredictable. A protagonist and antagonist with clear and active
goals.
6. Cinematography (10 points) The quality of cinematography or videography
demonstrated in the work.
7. Sound Quality & Music Score (10 points) Is the dialogue clear and not
hindered by any noise or music score.Is the music score suited to the film and
does it help tell the story s a character of it's own.
8. Entertainment Value (10 points)Does the story keep the viewer's or reader's
attention?  It is fun, engaging, or thought provoking?
9. Dialogue (10 points)Voices that are natural, succinct, and unique to each
character. Use of language that effectively reveals character and moves the story
forward. OR, is the lack of dialogue used effective.
10. Message Effectiveness & Call to Action (10 points)Does the film clearly depict
the message of the charity or cause it represents.  Is the charity/cause clearly
identified and is the message it sends effective.Does the film create a desire in
the viewer to make a change, spread the message further or taking a call to
action.
