1. General
This user manual describes details of testing 7SJ6x relays with the OMICRON Protection Test Template.
General information on the usage of OMICRON Protection Testing Library items can be found in the
OMICRON PTL user manual.

The template has been tested with the following relay:

Manufacturer: Siemens
Model: 7SJ64125EA913RH7
Firmware Version: 4.8

1.1 Supported Relays

The following relays can be tested with the Protection Test Template:
• 7SJ61x
• 7SJ62x
• 7SJ63x
• 7SJ64x

2. Software and Hardware Requirements

To use this template, you must have a valid test license for the OMICRON Test Universe 3.20 software or
higher versions and the following test modules:
• Control Center
• Quick CMC
• State Sequencer
• Overcurrent
• Ramping

Any CMC test set can be used with this Protection Test Template.

3. Hardware
There are multiple possibilities of wiring a 7SJ6x relay to a CMC test set. The advised connections are
shown in Figure 1. These connections are the default settings in the Hardware Configuration of the PTT.

Although the functions listed above are not supported by the Protection Test Template, the
Relay Parameter Section of the XRIO Converter includes all protection parameters of the relay.

5. XRIO Converter
The Test Object already contains the Siemens 7SJ6x XRIO Converter, which includes setting
parameters of the modelled protection relay. The setting parameters are built as an image of the DIGSI
4.83 software.

The Standard Filter for XRIO files can be used for importing settings into the Relay Parameter Section.

5.1 Specialties of the Additional Information Block

The MLFB number of the device has to be needs to be correctly set in the General block.

6. Specific Protection Tests

6.1 Thermal Overload

The Overcurrent test module is used for Thermal Overload alarm and trip time tests. One shot is
predefined with a factor relative to the pickup value. Please ensure the Alarm and Trip signals are
connected to correct binary inputs before the test.

6.2 Under/Over Voltage

6.2.1 Pickup Tests

The Ramping module is used for Under/Over voltage pickup tests. The first ramp is used to deactivate the
Undervoltage protection function. The pickup is tested with a second ramp, increasing (decreasing) the
voltage until the pickup value is reached. A second ramp decreases (increases) the voltage until the
pickup signal is reset. The pickup and drop off values are measured and assessed.

6.2.2 Trip Time Tests

The State Sequencer test module is used for the voltage protection trip time tests. This test is divided into
five states: pre-fault 1, fault (no trip), pre-fault 2, fault (trip) and post-fault. Supervised voltage in the fault
(no trip) state is set in the nominal non-tripping area of the stage, but condition simulated in fault (trip)
should trip the stage. The pre-fault 2 stage is set to reset all voltage elements.
