1. General
This user manual describes details of testing MiCOM P633 relay with the OMICRON
Protection Test Template. General information on the usage of OMICRON Protection Testing Library
items can be found in the OMICRON PTL user manual.

1.1 Supported Relays

The following relays can be tested with the Protection Test Template:
• P631
• P632
• P633

2. Software and Hardware Requirements

To use this template, you must have a valid test license for the OMICRON Test Universe 3.20 software or
higher versions and the following test modules:
• Control Center
• Diff Configuration
• Diff Trip Time Characteristic
• Diff Operating Characteristic
• Diff Harmonic Restraint
• Overcurrent
• Ramping
• State Sequencer

A CMC test set with six current outputs is required. A CMA 156 current amplifier may be additionally
required for testing with higher currents e.g. relays with 5A current measuring inputs.

3. Hardware

There are multiple possibilities of wiring a MiCOM P633 relay to a CMC test set. The advised wiring is
shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. These connections are the default settings in the
Hardware Configuration of the PTT.

Hardware Configuration for Residual Overcurrent Protection, IN is set to “Measured”

For testing a Residual Overcurrent protection with a residual current measured by a separate current
transformer (TN1, TN2), please change the connections according to the advised connections in Figure 3
for Side 1 and Figure 4 for Side 2 and Figure 5 for Side 3.

4. Functional Range
Supported functions:
• Differential Protection (87)
• Phase Overcurrent Protection (50, 51)
• Residual Overcurrent Protection (50N, 51N)
• Thermal Overload Protection (49)

Not supported functions:

• REF Protection
• Negative Sequence Overcurrent Protection
• Overfluxing Protection
• Volt Protection
• Frequency Protection
• CB Fail Protection
• VT/CT Supervision

5. XRIO Converter
The Test Object already contains the Schneider MiCOM P633 XRIO Converter, which includes setting
parameters of the modelled protection relay. The setting parameters are built as an image of the Easergy
Studio V7.1.0 software and the following data models with software version:
• P633: Software Version 660

The XRIO Import Filter can be used for importing settings into the Relay Parameter Section.

5.1 Additional Information

5.1.1 Relay Information

The Relay Information block contains relay specific parameters. It includes the tolerances which can be
found in the P633 relay manual and are required for testing. Typically, the parameters in the specific
blocks don't have to be changed, as the parameters are already set to the values given in the user manual
of the relay.

5.1.2 Transformer Information

The Transformer Information block includes the parameter Number of Windings, which states whether
the protected object is a two- or three-winding transformer and the parameters WindingType for every
side. The parameters have to be set before testing.
