Think It Over:

Individual Work – MIDTERM REQUIREMNET

Activity Title: SCRIBBLING SOUL

Destiny Rose
|GE 6: ART APPRECIATION
The Scribble Artwork is extremely striking and eye-catching. When you look at it, it gives
off a gleaming appearance and shining impression. Specifically, because of the bright colors used
across the backdrop, which I have been intended to give the onlooker a favorable and positive
impression of the work.

Tight curls and loop lines appear to form a butterfly-like figure and a rose-shaped figure in
the midst of the backdrop. This appears to be incredibly feminine, cheerful and pure. The artist
also made use of dark lines that run all over the piece. For this reason, I’ve titled the piece 'Destiny
Rose,' because I want to convey the idea of gay life and happiness (signified by the rose where
the petals are different colors and the butterfly), as well as their destiny (represented by the lines
that run across the backdrop).

I liken a homosexual man's life to that of a tied dye roses: bright, colorful, varied, and
happy, and above all, peeping through life's challenges to bloom with color. Happiness of a gay,
on the other hand, is like chasing a butterfly: the harder they strive, the more it eludes them; yet,
if they notice the other things around them, it will fall gently on their shoulder. Furthermore, the
subject's color implies that in order to blend in with the surroundings, you must exude your
numerous shades of colors, implying that in this world, there are people with diverse natures and
perspectives, and gays are trying hard to gain acceptance.

Moreover, destiny is perhaps attributed through the lines that run throughout the backdrop.
It is noticeable that these lines curve all over the work but seem to find its way back and connect
in the middle through the rose-shaped figure. I affirmed that gays' destiny or fate is complex in
every manner, but it always finds its way back to their nature and their ability to love and persevere,
will give them a tremendous amount of strength and courage to become the person they dream to
be.
Overall, it's a very interesting and intriguing work, with all the colors, lines, shapes and
meaning combined.
