Critique Paper about K to 12 Curriculum Implementation (ACTIVITY 1)

Education was the most valuable tool that anyone could use to achieve success in life. It
motivated everyone to take the initiative and succeed in achieving positive outcomes for which
they can be recognized and rewarded. It gave everyone the opportunity to think objectively in
both directions, allowing them to make better decisions in order to cope with and manage
various life challenges, and it gave everyone the inspiration they needed to develop on their
own chosen path in life. Implementation of K–12 programs with the goal of producing more
qualified students with basic skills for lifelong learning and work. Since they were able to
master the skills and learn the core competencies needed to meet the demands of the global
market, this program facilitated reciprocal appreciation of Filipino learners and professionals in
other countries. Because learners had to graduate at the age of 18, this new curriculum
produced learners who were prepared for careers, entrepreneurship, and middle-level skill
growth. Since the students who completed this course were called young adults, they were
equipped with the requisite credentials since they struggled with much higher learning as they
entered tertiary education. This new education scheme in the Philippines has given students
the opportunity to make their own choices as they follow a specific path that has led to their
success in a particular field. The inclusion of the K-12 Program in the Philippine Basic Education
Curriculum was critical to our country's growth. Although the government has had several
issues implementing the program for several years, it has been a necessary change because
improving the quality of our education is vital to our nation's success. Positively, the K to 12
program provides a more comprehensive solution to the country's problems, especially in
terms of jobs, as Filipino graduates worked abroad. These issues include the need for teachers
to be educated in pedagogy, education science, assessment and evaluation, and classroom
management in order to ensure that instructions are provided in a meaningful manner, as well
as a lack of government funding to support this new curriculum, which includes junior and
senior high school teachers. Despite all of the issues that arose as a result of the new
curriculum's introduction, many people assumed that the K to 12 program's long-term impact
would be very beneficial to all Filipino graduates. As a result, all Filipinos should express their
support and motivation for the government's newly introduced educational system. National
growth and prosperity will be fully accomplished if more time and money are dedicated to
education.
But even the programs have many positive point of views it is not easy to accept that
there are also some negative comments about it. It was emphasized that some parents viewed
this program negatively, which placed a different physical and financial strain on them and their
children, but that some parents viewed the program positively, believing that it assisted
learners in choosing and deciding the career that best suited their skills. The aim of this new
curriculum was not to offer additional years for sufferings, but to standardize the country's
educational system, where academic subjects were strengthened, and students' work readiness
was enhanced and developed as skills were enhanced and developed. Furthermore, this new
method created graduates who were highly employable, experienced, and qualified. The
Department need to address the different problem even until now that it was mostly 10 years
of implementation, there are schools that needs additional classrooms, updated no. of books,
because it was very delayed. They want classroom instruction to be digitized already but they
fail to give facilities and equipment’s.
The K to 12 projects had everything that needed to be at the forefront of the
government's agendas and it was thought to be the answer to all of the country's problems.
Various studies were undertaken to determine the issues that needed to be addressed as a
result of the introduction of this new curriculum, which provided diverse perspectives among
teachers, parents, and students. The department and government need to ensure; teachers'
participation in various preparation and workshops should be maximized in order to ensure
that they have the requisite competencies and skills to interact with the students who will be
part of the new curriculum, to ensure that students' learnings are facilitated, school facilities,
laboratories, and instructional materials must be improved with this new curriculum, schools
should focus on involving students in various research activities that enable them to build
innovations in order to promote self-confidence and independence and additional research is
required to define and monitor the success of this new program.
