LEGAL BASES OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

In accordance with the pertinent provisions of R.A No.7722, otherwise known as the
“Higher Education Act of 1994” in pursuance of an outcome-based quality assurance
system as advance CM 046s 2012 and virtue of commission.
The following policies, standards, and guidelines are hereby accepted and promulgated
by the purpose of nationalizing physical education in the country with the end it the end
it the view of keeping pace with the demand by great competitiveness, and pursuant to
Article XIV, Section 19 of the Philippine Constitution of 1987. Which mandates
the state shall promote physical education and courage sports programs leagues
competitions, and amateur sports, including training for international competitions, to
foster self-discipline, teamwork, and excellence for the development of healthy and
alert citizenry. All education institutions shall undertake regular sports activities
throughout the country in cooperation with athletic club and often sectors.

DEFFINITION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION


- Came from the Latin word “physica”, meaning physics and “education” ,
meaning the training of the bodily organs and power with a view to the
promotion of hearts and vigor. (Wikipedia 2015)
- Physical education is sequential, developmentally appropriate educational
programs that provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes
necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle.

5 ASPECTS OF INDIVIDUAL
1.) PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

- The basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology would help individual to


appreciate and encourage in engaging more in physical activities; to develop to
skeletomuscular and cardiovascular and endurance and strength, and to
sustain daily life activities without uncle fatigue.
2.) SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
- Involvement in P.E, activities provides opportunities for the development of
enviable social traits for adjustment to social life in general.
Some worthwhile traits are:

3.) EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- The informal nature of P.E activities offers opportunities for self-expression and
emotional mastery. Examples of worthwhile emotional traits are:

FUNCTIONS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION


1.)Biologic function
- Refers to the enhancement of the individuals’ growth and development through
body movement.
2.)Integrative function
- Refers to the personality integration achieved through participation properly
selected physical activities.
3.)Social function
- Consists of transmitting values and standard that are consistent with the needs
and ideal of the society.

GOALS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION


 To develop optimum physical fitness and the health of the individual.
 To produce individuals who can contribute to the economic well-being.
 To train good leaders with normal integrity of the highest order and develop
other desirable traits for effective group participation.
 To develop creativity and innovativeness inspired by an abiding faith in God and
love of country and fellowmen.
 To install a love of and pride for their preservation, and develop an
understanding of the culture of other for a feeling of international brotherhood
and unity.
