Phases of
Menstrual
Cycle
1. Menstrual phase
This is the “period” when the endometrium or lining of the uterus sheds over 3-7
days if there is no pregnancy.
2. Follicular phase
This is when several eggs mature inside small cyst or follicles.
3. Ovulation phase
This is when an egg is released from the biggest follicles and travels through the
fallopian tube. Where it can be fertilized. If it is not fertilized, it dissolves in about
24-48 hours.
4. Luteal phase
This is when the endometrium (the lining of the uterus) is thick and prepared to
support a pregnancy or be released in a period.

Writing to Learn Worksheet
Summary sheet:
Date: August 29, 2020
Name: Uli, Rujiyana P.
Year and section: 2-D
Topic; ANTEPARTUM/ PREGNANCY
Fetal circulation differs from the postpartum circulation to accommodation the interaction
of the fetus and mother through the placenta and umbilical cord. Blood flow in the unborn baby
follows this pathway: oxygen and nutrients from the mother’s blood are transferred across the
placenta to the fetus through the umbilical cord. This enriched blood flows through the umbilical
vein toward the baby's liver.
2. What new information did you learn from the topic? Include new terms and their
meanings.
The new information did I learned in this topic is the pregnancy divided into three
trimesters that each trimester last between 12 and 14 weeks, or about 3 months in which different
phases of fetal development take place.
