“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who

prepare for it today.” “Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your
altitude.” “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.” “The only
person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn …and
change.”

The Personal Lifelong Learning Plan (PLLLP) is a compilation of specific,

measurable, attainable, results-oriented, time-bound (SMART) self-learning
activities that will be implemented for a period of five (5) years. The identified
programs are expected to enable you to be “good or strong” to the “21st Century
Literary Areas” where you consider yourself still weak or developing and to
continue to be “good or strong” in areas where you rated yourself as “good or
strong”.

A lifelong learning plan is a written, well-thought of strategy to continuously

gain, absorb, and build skills and knowledge and apply these throughout life of
an individual.
As learning should be an essential and invisible portion of our daily lives, it is
necessary for you to develop your own plan to constantly acquire knowledge and
skills that you can use for your daily life.

Reading how to accomplish the template of personal lifelong plan comes my

mind to think my college years. I recall my favorite expression, “Learning is a
journey”.” Education is a journey, not a destination”. It is truly a journey as
education is a lifelong process. As long as we live, we continuously learning and
the journey never ends.

Taking the path of GURO21, when my school Principal ask me to enrol, came
with no hesitation, in fact I am fortunate to be a scholar of our school in this
exciting, challenging way of learning. Reading the modules given to me after
orientation came with me a fear and questions at the back of my mind. “If I will
take this course, what will I count for?” “Am I ready to take the challenges during
chat sessions? Am I ready to take the changes and disregarding my usual
practice before and after taking this course? “Am I really deserve the scholarship
that the school given to me”? “What is really my roles as a teacher?” Who really I
am as a Teacher?” Actually, having the modules of this course, helps me to be
flexible and adaptable. Why? Because despite of many paper works to be done
at school, activities and programs within the school, district and even in the
division level, I find time to read my module. Before, I don’t have time to read
some articles not related to my daily works and output, but now after my class in
school, I really love to spent time reading my modules, it is really equip me with
knowledge.

Designing Personal Lifelong Learning Plan is effective tool of evaluating myself

as 21st century teacher. I was able to identify, assess and evaluate myself if I am
equipped with the KSAV’s needed for the 21st century education. I was able to
know my level of competencies in the different literacy. It also assess my strong
and weak point leading me to plan an action for the improvement of myself in
implementing the lifelong learning plan to be the 21st century teacher.

Designing and writing and implementing this plan is not an easy task but once
accomplished, this will be an assurance of being focused and being directed
towards developing my personal and professional aspect in life.

I woke up 4:30 0’clock in the morning to design my personal lifelong plan. Why
so early in the morning? This is my practice since high school life, if I have a plan
to be made, early in the morning is a nice time to make, having fresh mind, fresh
air, surrounding is very silent. And I do believe that waking up early in the
morning I am mentally, physically and emotionally healthy. These are the
components needed in order for me to come up a good and effective design of
personal lifelong plan.

First, I have a lot of words, facts, activities and hindrances comes in my

mind…while looking at the templates or form to be filled in for my personal
lifelong plan. I find hard what should be the most effective, conceptualized and
contextualized design that could be useful not only for myself but of course for
my fellow teacher in our school. I really find hard in designing and writing my
personal lifelong learning plan. I don’t know how and where to begin at first, I am
a teacher teaching in coastal valley. A school which is lack of modern
technologies to be used in teaching-learning process to be a 21st century
education. Although, I am confident to say that I am equipped KSAV’s to be a
21st century teacher. I am thinking if I really could implement my design plan.
Designing and writing this plan is not easy but I felt exciting...because I know it is
very useful, it will lead towards development and I am so thankful.

It will take challenges along the way but with the determination, commitment,
perseverance, willingness and faith to GOD, all the barriers turns a smooth
journey towards my development as 21st century teacher advocating quality
education for the 21st century learners. I do believe with faith in GOD, help of my
superiors, my colleagues, learners, parents and stakeholder of our school
community, all of my plan in my PLLLP will smoothly implemented and used not
only for my personal but for the development of my teaching-learning process,
my learners and school as well. This designed plan will be useful also to my
colleagues who will not be able to undergo course like this. They could adapt it
for their personal development as a teacher. It will help them to be a 21st century
teacher, then our school would be a 21st century institution serves a 21st century
education.
