Broken Stowage - It is the Difference


                                 Between pakkages    remain unfilled.   This factor varies with the type of
cargo and the shape of cargo.

Cleaning Cargo Holds For Loading General Cargo-

1. Cargo sweeping
2. Segregate good and damage dunnage
3. Collect all lashing material
4. Hold Bilge cleaning
5. Remove the strum box, clean and clear all holes
6. Bilge clean refit non- return flap, cover, cement of loading bulk cargo
7. Check co2 system
8. Test covers, ventilaters, air pipes, rubber seal, leakage
9. Ensure all ladder in good condition
10. Deodorizing wash( परु ाने cargo की smell निकालना)
11. Dunnage

Care of General Cargo-

1. Check the cargo in good condition


2. Check lashing( required or lashed properly)
3. Betten down all hatches tightly
4. At Sea - check lashing regularly
5. Discharging - use proper slings
6. After Discharge - ensure no damage to ship or hold, no Cargo remaining

Pipeline System - For supplying, draining           


                                and transferring fresh water, oil and sea water from and to different
compartments

Draingae System - Is neccessary to remove


                                   Any water, which may collects in the bottom, Bilge and tanks

Sounding pipe - A pipe which leads down to
                              almost the bottom of a tank to enable the depth of liquid to be measured by a
sounding tape. A striking pad must be located on the tank bottom beneath the pipe.

Procedure for Sounding of Water tanks -

1. Picku T-spanner, Sounding rod, white chalk lump


2. Open soundinb cale with T-spanner
3. Apply chalk/paste to sounding rod little above estimated sounding
4. Lower soundjutape until it hit striker plate
5. Pick up line/rod
6. Messure the length of wet portion (this measurement is soundjng)
7. Find tonnage from calibration book.

Note- 1. Sounding rod or line use for ballast and water tanks
          2. Water paste instead of chalk is used
            on metal tape

Container cargo                                

Container - Is a box made of sleel,


                     aluminium or fiber glass.   

Standard size - 20feet length x 8 feet  width


                             x 8 feet hight (called TEU)
                             OR
     40 feet container - 40x8x8 (called FEUs)
