Translating Comments from the Inchcape Employee Experience Survey

Guidance notes for Translation Team


Who are we?
We are Hough HR Ltd, based in UK and we provide and run our Employee Experience Surveys to our client – Inchcape PLC around the world.

About the Survey


The survey is anonymous. It asks the employees a series of questions about what is important to them and how they find their experience as an emplo

There are questions where they are asked to write responses in their own words – and we need these translated into English – AS THEY WRITE IT. Ple
interpret their meaning or improve the words they use. We want to hear the authentic tone of their voice in the translation.

Once we have your translation, we will then read through the responses and cleanse any appropriate remarks such as named references to individual
to safeguard anonymity. It is important that you do not share the responses directly with Inchcape – only send them to us. Once you have completed
translation please delete the data file. I am sure you will appreciate this is sensitive information and should be destroyed once completed on any PCs.

Your contract is with Inchcape and they will be paying your invoice upon completion. We will advise Inchcape once we have the completed Translatio
What you need to do
The Password was given to you in the email.

The employee comments requiring translation are laid out in the attached Comments Translation Excel document as follows and we need you to retur
translation using this document and in this same format: (Please don’t change the format of the sheet)

1.        Each person has a unique identifier number – and their responses are all on one line. It is very important that each person's comments ar
the SAME ROW as the Participant ID or reference number and not mixed up. We must be able to attribute the comments to the individual ref n

2.        The questions are all in separate columns across the sheet – with the question written in the column header.
3.        The TRANSLATION column contains the individual language responses / comments we need translating.

4.        Please translate the comments in the yellow and white columns and place the ENGLISH translation into the next wh
TRANSLATION – in exactly the same row.
5.        You can see that some people did not make any comments – so there are blank rows. You can ignore these – but d
we need to keep all the rows in the same order.
6.        If you think it would be helpful to explain any context re local words or phrases please add this to the column AF en
