The world is experiencing a dramatic increase in population. This is causing problems not
only for poor, undeveloped countries, but also for industrialised and developing nations.

Describe some of the problems that overpopulation causes, and suggest at least one
possible solution.

The drastic increase in population worldwide causes a lot of problems on a global scale that
to arise and it affects both the less privileged undeveloped countries and the rich developing
ones. This essay discusses on the possible causes as well as recommendation of this issue.

Overpopulation will cause a strain on our resources; an increase demand for food, water,
housing, energy, healthcare and transportation. For example, during this pandemic
specifically in India which is known to be one of the most populated countrynations. where
pPeople are sharing oxygen and beds in the hospitals, some are lying down on corridors and
worst on the street. Their needs surpass the supply that the country has. Due to
overpopulation, quality healthcare is not given to the people as they have to share and
maximize all the resources available.

Another problem that this overpopulation causes is difficulty in preventing and controlling
the spread of certain diseases. It is because they are living close to each other and sharing
the same space thus possible transmission is highly expected. For example, the Covid-19
virus- a highly contagious disease that spreads through via droplet and airborne. iIn a
country like Singapore, the virus is not widely spread as compared to other countries like
the Philippines and Italy. It is because the country is small and has a lesser population.
Education and protocols on how to prevent the spread of the virus can be easily
disseminated easily. Violators of the implemented health guidelines can be traced easily and
a punishment awaitspenalized. Unlike to a dense populated countriescountry, rules and
regulations are difficult to implement.

In order to address this issue, the government should provide enough medical supplies and
provide free relocation and housing program especially for the poor people. Introduction
and spreading knowledge of family planning will also help. But it has to be a two-way
process, for the government to achieve a positive result, the citizens should also do their
part.
In conclusion, overpopulation imposes a serious problem for both developed and
undeveloped countries. With the government and its people working together, a positive
result can happen.
