From 800 to 1,400 AD - The tools of farming remain essentially unchanged. There is the

centuries, agricultural innovations exploded. Plow design was improved.
• An Englishman Jethro Tull – invented the first world’s seed drill – allows to plant seed
quickly, neat, straight rows. Horse driven harvester and mechanized harvesting
equipment followed. – like Cyrus McCormick’s reaper.
• Agricultural productivity soared.
• Agricultural revolution occurred
• There was surplus of production which is necessary for industrialization.
Industrial Agriculture
Summary of Post-Industrialization:
• Between 1900 to 2012 – The world’s population grew from 1.6 billion to 7 billion.
• In 1700, only 7% of the earth surface was used for Agriculture while today, it is more
than 20 %.
• Clearly, agriculture is on the crossroad to feed the world’s population
