FUNDAMENTALS
Ultrasonic Bearing Inspection is a Non Intrusive Way
to Assess the Condition of Bearings. The UltraProbe
10,000SD Allows for Analysis of Audible Quality
Identifying Inefficiencies. Recording Capabilities to
Visually Identify Faults Through Spectralyzer
Software, Compare Sounds and Conduct Fault
Frequency Analysis.

Using the UE Systems Ultraprobe 10,000SD

Detector, the Dynamic Changes Occurring in
Bearings Can Be Addressed Using Historical
Trending with Decibel (dB) Values Guiding
Maintenance Practices.

INITIAL SETUP
Downloading the DMS Software From
UESystems.com Will Allow Inspectors to Build a
Database For All Bearings Within a System.
Each Route Can Be Downloaded to the Ultraprobe
10,000SD For Organized Data Acquisition and
Report Generation.

Each Route is Stored Within the Plant Created

Within the DMS Software and is Available For
Upload at Anytime. Each Route Can House Up
to 400 Individual Bearings.

NOTE: For Full Details on Uploading and Downloading Routes, See

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
With the Bearing Route Downloaded to the
UltraProbe 10,000SD, and the Frequency Set to
30KHz, Inspectors Can Collect Data. Make Contact
With the Grease Fitting or Bearing Housing Using
the Stethoscope Module (STM) or Remote Magnetic
Transducer (RMT).

Adjust/Optimize the Sensitivity and Tune

Frequency (If Necessary) to Obtain a Good,
Quality Signal. Listen For Any Operational
Deviations. Ensure Inspectors Have Adequate
Operational Knowledge of Each Type of
Bearing Prior to Inspection.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE 30 KHz

Utilizing the Spectralyzer Software Can Directly

Support Accurate, and Repeatable Analysis
Practices. The UltraProbe 10,000SD Has
Independent WAV File Recording Capacity Providing
Real Time, Condition Based Analysis. Inspectors Can
Visually Determine the Presence of Harmonics to
Conduct Fault Frequency Analysis.

When Recording WAV Files, Ensure Accurate

Recording Parameters, (2 – 4 Bars) Within the
Intensity Meter and Frequency Setting. This
Allows for the Sound to be Recorded Within
Range and Not Clipped for Analysis.

NOTE: For Full Detail on Recording, See

Visual Instruction: Recording WAV Files

SAVING DATA
Because the Majority of Bearing Data Consists of
Audible Quality and Recording WAV Files,
Permanently Storing the Data to the SD Card Can Be
Achieved Through the Record WAV Option Within
the Function Bar. Ensure Proper Recording
Parameters Prior to Selecting Record WAV.

30 KHz
Once Recording is Complete, Inspectors Can
Playback Recording to Ensure Quality or Click
the Sensitivity Dial to Continue. Pressing the
ENTER Button Will Permanently Save the
WAV File to the SD Card and Automatically
Advance to the Next Test Point. Once
Stored, a Confirmation Prompt Will Be
Displayed.
