Introduction

Reading is defined as a number of interactive process between the reader and the text in which
the reader uses the knowledge to interpret something that is written or printed (Hornby, 2005).

Reading is about understanding written texts. It involves both perception and thought. It's also
an interactive process that goes on between the reader and the text, resulting in
comprehending the text present letter, woeds, sentences and paragraph that encode meaning.
The readeruses knowledge, skills which has to be mastered, because by reding, the students
can understand what the writer informs to the reader, (Pang at al; 2003). Reading inabilitie is
caused by failure to gain skills in alphabetical coding, (Mando, 2008).

The situation of reading inability for university english students accoding to Mule (2012), is
campaigned by lack of reding materials available to the learners. In order as solution for that
problem, the students have to practice reading a lot and use certain strategies. The students
ability to read the text depends on their ability on using the strategies such as: skimming,
scanning, extensive reading, intensive reading or in depth reading to understand what the
writer says, (Idem, 1982).

skimming is a technique in which the reader uses to gain the general overveiw about the text;

Scanning is a technique in which the reader can also use to look for specific information in the
text;

Intensive reading or in depth is a technique used by reader to gain the weakness and strenght
of writer, ( Nuttal, 1982).

1.1.Topic of sudy: University English students are unable to read English academic texts.

1.2. Object of study: Read english academic texts.

1.3. Statement of study is the following:

English students are unable to read english academic texts at university.

1.4. Resaerch questions:

1. What are the main inabilities aspects to read english academic texts encountered by
university students?

2. What are the inabilities causes of reading academic texts faced by university students?

3. What should be done in order to solve the inabilities in reading academic texts faced by
university students?
1.5. Objectives of study:

This study has as objectives

1. To investigate the main inabilities aspects to.read english academic texts at university;

2. To identify the causes of inabilities to read academic texts at university;

3. To explain the possible solutions of inabilities to read english academic texts.

1.6. Rationale of the study:

This study would give positive contribution for the university english students, in order to
recognize the innovations strategies which applied in reading academic texts and main
resources in order to solve these problem, so that students can get across their inabilities in
english reading academic texts. This study result is expected that students can improve their
reading inabilities in english academic texts.
