Introduction:

Personal protective equipment, or PPE, protects workers from


serious workplace injuries or illnesses resulting from physical,
electrical, mechanical, chemical, or other workplace hazards.

WHAT IS PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT/PPE?

Examples of PPE include hard hats, face shields, goggles, gloves, vests,
respirators, safety shoes, and coveralls. PPE is required for many
transportation maintenance activities. Both employers and employees have
responsibilities for maintaining a safe work environment.

undertake will depend on the nature of your undertaking.

Title: Perform the minor preparations before tiling a wall.

Learning Objective: Given the needed supplies, materials and equipment,


you are expected to demonstrate the minor preparations before tiling a
wall.

Materials and Equipment:


Bubble level, primer, vacuum cleaner, rags/cloths for wiping, sponge,
tile removing chisel.

Steps and Procedures:

 Look out for signs of wall hangings, such as screws, nails or other
types of fittings;
 Get rid of loose plaster;
 Look out for signs of damage and cracks;
 Fill larger cracks via layering;
 Sand the wall to level it down, if required;
 Clean, dust heavy particles;
 Vacuum clean and wipe the walls;
 Prime the surface prior to the tiling.
