ADJECTIVE CLAUSE

Adjective adalah kata yang menerangkan kata benda :

The beautiful girl is Lisa

Beautiful menerangkan girl. Beautiful adalah adjective
Adjective clausa adalah anak kalimat yang menerangkan kata benda
The girl who sits beside me is Lisa
Who sits beside me adalah anak kalimat yang menerangkan girl.
Who sits beside me adalah adjective clause.

Adjective clause selalu diawali Relative Pronoun atau kata ganti kata sambung yang artinya
yang , seperti :

Who : untuk menerangkan orang sebagai subject kegiatan

Whom : untuk menerangkan orang sebagai object kegiatan.
Whose : untuk menyatakan milik/kepemilikan
Which : untuk menerangkan benda
Of which : untuk menerangkan/menyatakan milik benda
Where : untuk menerangkan tempat (dimana )
When : untuk menerangkan waktu ( disaat, kapan)
Where sama dengan preposisi + which ( In which, on which, at which )
When sama dengan preposisi + which ( In which, on which, at which)

Contoh :

1. The girl who talks to me is Resti

The woman who helps me is Mrs.Irma
The man who sends me a card is Mr.Budi
The lady who calls me is Mrs. Dina

2. The girl whom I talk to is Wilis

The woman whom I help is Mrs.Yanti
The man whom I send the card to is Mr.Tony
The lady whom I call is Mrs.Diyah

3. The girl whose father works abroad is Romaningsih

The woman whose daughter won the contest feels so proud
The man whose car is parked under the tree is Mr.ali
The lady whose husband gets higher position is very happy

4. The book which I read is teen ink

The animals which eat meat is called meat eater.
 The place where I live is quiet
The place in which I live is quiet
The day when we met was Sunday
The day on which we met was Sunday

5. The house whose colors is dark gray in habited

The house of which colors is dark grey is inhabited

6. Some of whom, Many of whom : untuk orang yang sudah disebutkan sebelumnya
