Data Gathering Procedure

The instruments were personally conducted by the researchers through online survey.

The researchers personally apprised the participants about the purpose and significance of the

study.

The participants were given 10 minutes to complete the survey. The researchers went

from 1 section to another, until the sample size was met.

After the questionnaires were compiled from the online survey, the results were tallied

and tabulated using the SPSS software version 20. The data were then used for the analyses

and interpretation of data.

Because the nature of the research involved asking the participants with relation to their

grades and class performance, the researchers made sure that the interview was administered

with sensitivity to the consequences for the participants. The participants were not deceived,

exploited nor harmed in any way and their involvement was not depicted with transparency.

Informed consent. The participants were asked if they agreed to take the survey and be a

part of the study. The participants were told initially, that their name and identity are optional

and if they agreed to put it, the researchers assured it will not leak. Students were encouraged to

ask questions if they did not understand either test at any time. [ CITATION Ske17 \l 1033 ]. The

researchers explained to them through message that the survey will last for 10 minutes and that

they are free to withdraw with their involvement on the study whenever they want.

Anonymity and confidentiality. The identities of the respondents were kept

confidential. Their names were not taken and codes such as R1 (which stands for respondent 1)

were used as identification to prevent any harm that may result in case their identities are
revealed. Unless respondents agree that their participation can be made public, the researcher did

not disclose the identities of respondents to readers.

Honesty, sympathy and respect. The researcher made sure that participants were treated

with honesty, sympathy, and respect. These guiding principles were followed to ensure ethical

research, knowing that these are the minimum requirements for creating rapport between the

interviewer and the respondents.
