Unlocking of Difficult Words choose only 2 activities for context clues types

 Synonym
Pre-reading Activity
 Using the Short Conversations will be a great Activity that connects to the
Synonym Type of context clue. The activity goes like this; the students will be
given a story entitled “The Dog and His Reflection” then having a conversation
with a partner. Then I will give them time to search or find sentences that uses
similar word to help explain the meaning of the unfamiliar word.
 Using the brainstorming also they will an awesome activity the fits to Synonym
Type of context clue. The activity goes like this; the students will be given a story
entitled “The Dog and His Reflection” then they will be group into 5, I will give
them 10 minutes to discuss with their group, what will be the sentences that uses
similar word to help explain the meaning of the unfamiliar word. Afterward they
will pick a representative to share their answers in the class.

 Restatement
Pre-reading Activity
 For Restatement the Discussion Activity I will use because Restatement is like a
sentences that uses hard words that said in a simple way. The activity goes like
this; the students will be given a story entitled “The Dog and His Reflection”
then I will give them the floor to discuss the sentences they feel that it has a hard
word or phrases but it is said in simple ways. It is better to encourage young
learners to stand up and tells their opinions for them to have courage to face
difficulties despite of the consequences.
 Using the “The Title” activity will develop the students thinking skills. The
activity goes like this; I will group the students into 4, then the students will be
given a story entitled “The Dog and His Reflection”, afterward they will work
together to restatement the title for them to expand their knowledge.

 Antonym/ Contrast
Pre-reading Activity
 Using the purpose will be a great way to thrive them to learn the uses another
word or phrase that means the opposite of an unfamiliar word. This includes
words that But, however, although, otherwise, unless, instead of, on the contrary,
on the other hand, while, unlike. The activity goes like this; the students will be
given a story entitled “The Dog and His Reflection” then they will get the
sentences that use another word or phrase that means the opposite of an
unfamiliar word, individually and I will give them 5 minutes to think and
afterward they will present it with their seatmates.
 Using the Speed Chatting they will be given to read a story entitled “The Dog
and His Reflection” then they will speed chat and find the words used in the
antonym/contrast. Example words used are: But, however, although, otherwise,
unless, instead of, on the contrary, on the other hand, while, unlike. There will be
two groups they will pic a 3 representative each to be the player of the game and
the 3 respective representatives will face each other and the speed chat will
begin.
 Comparison
Pre-reading Activity
 Using the videos will be an advantage because in these generations we are all
using technology. For this activity, I will flash a video about the story of entitled
“The Dog and His Reflection” then the procedure will be; they will get a piece of
paper and they will write down the sentences or a word used that have the same
or similar meaning as an unfamiliar word. Words includes, like, as, similar to, in
the same way, likewise, resembling, too and also.
 Using the Pictures will get the attentions to my students. The activity goes like
this; I will flash comparative pictures that happen in story entitled “The Dog and
His Reflection” then my students will write sentences that showed comparison.
 Cause and effect
Pre-reading Activity
 Using the Storytelling is considerable activity to the cause and effect type of
context clue. The activity goes like this; I will group them into 2, they will
brainstorm there ideas about the story of entitled “The Dog and His Reflection”
and I will pick a representative to make the Storytelling and I will asked them
what was the cause and effect of the story,
 Using the Pictionary. The activity goes like this; I will read the story entitled “The
Dog and His Reflection” then I will make a two box that the other box contains
the cause and the other one with the effect. The board also will be divided into 2,
the other side will be written with cause and the other half we be the effect. I
will group them into 2; they will pick a representative to be the one to go in the
front. They will connect the things written in the box and the cause and effect
written also in the board.
Motivation-motive Question tandem (K-W-L, Prediction chart, etc.”

Selection: Aesop For Children (The Dog and His Reflection)

1. Motivation questions: If you were the dog, what are you thinking?
Motive questions: Do you think you can survive?

2. Motivation questions: If you’re reflecting on the water, what did you see?
Motive questions: Is there any special of the reflection on the water?

3. Motivation questions: If the dog didn’t look down, what will happen?
Motive questions: Is there any chances that the dog will go home with food?

5. Motivation questions: If you were the dog, would you tolerate your food for others?
Motive questions: Is giving to other people what you have, weather small or large is bad?
