Course Instructor – Living in the IT Era

• This course will introduce the science, culture and ethics of information technology
as well as its influence on modern living and human relationships and uses for
personal, professional and social advancement.
• Topics in this course include introduction to information technology, data
communication, internet, IT security and ethics, e-commerce and online
communities.
• After finishing this course, you should be able to:
• Apply knowledge of computing, science, and mathematics appropriate to discipline
Interpret the functional architecture of computing systems
• Explain the evolution of computing systems and the recent developments in the
different computing knowledge areas
• Demonstrate understanding of the Internet and related technologies
• Understand security issues related to privacy, content selection, intellectual property
rights.
• Recognize and understand ways of using electronic commerce technologies to
improve intra and inter-organizational processes
• Understand electronic commerce and the interplay between technology, managerial
and policy issues that will shape its future.
• This course is consists of 9 Chapters
• Chapter 1: Introduction to Information Technology
• Chapter 2: Data Communication and the Internet
• Chapter 3: IT Security and Ethics
• Chapter 4: Introduction to E-commerce
• Chapter 5: E-commerce Business Strategies
• Chapter 6: E-commerce Retailing and Services
• Chapter 7: Building an E-commerce Site
• Chapter 8: Social, Mobile, and Local Marketing
• Chapter 9: Online Communities
• Use your Bicol University email account to enroll to the course site.
• The Google Classroom will be used as the primary Course Site for this course.
• Lectures/Modules will be uploaded on a weekly basis.
• An assessment for every lesson will be available for 30minutes to 2 hours depending on the
length of the given questions
• Major Exam will be available during its schedule and will only be available for 3hrs upon
accessing it.
• The major exam is limited to one trial only.
