A. LUBRICATION AND HYDRAULIC OIL SYSTEM

1. The Minerals filter press is capable of trouble-free operation, if the lubrication

and maintenance are performed regularly and that the hydraulic oil is kept clean.

2. These instructions are divided into 2 main parts:

(1) “C. Lubrication System,” which covers the lubrication of the press
(2) “D. Hydraulic Oil System,” which covers the hydraulic power system

3. For equipment that is furnished by but not manufactured by FLSmidth Minerals,

refer to the manufacturer's instructions in the “Accessory Equipment” section (see
Table of Contents).

B. PRODUCT BRANDS

Although Mobil products are specified, if this brand is neither available nor desired:

1. Refer to the equivalents list in the “Hydraulic Oil Equivalents” section of the
“Hydraulic Oil Precautions” instruction (see Table of Contents).

2. Consult a qualified lubrication engineer.

3. Contact your FLSmidth Minerals representative. Refer to the “Offices” page (see

C. LUBRICATION SYSTEM

– The lubrication system is an automatic grease-lube system with an air/electric

powered pump. The pump connects to injector manifolds, which lubricate the AFP
IV™ Minerals Press. The grease is supplied through tubing and flexible hoses to
each shaker bearings, camshaft assemblies, and drip tray bearings.

– Lubrication is programmed to occur after an adjustable number of filter cycles for a

set duration. The frequency of lubrication can easily be changed, depending on
lubrication requirements, and the amount of grease that enters each fitting is
adjustable at the injectors.

1. Lubrication Pump

Refer to the Lubrication Pump Manufacturer’s instructions for the start-up and
operation of the pump and lube system. Refer to the “Accessory Equipment”
section of this manual (see Table of Contents).
