CHIEF ENGINEER STANDING ORDERS

1.All Engine watchkeepers shall read and comply with these standing orders,they shall also read the

Aplicable instructions in the engine order book before standing every watch.

2.Engineers shall know how to operate all machinery and equipment in engine room.

3.Engineers are at liberty to use all controls & equipment ,they should take whatever steps required

Ensuring that the vessel ( and its now ) is kept safe.

4.Engineers should not hesitate to alter course and move on.

5.All Engine Room personnel are to read company’s manual & follow instruction

6.All engineers to note that all the instruction manual / drawing are to be referred to and read before

Carrying out any maintenance work / repair work on any machinery or any other equipment

13.All Engine Room personnel are to be aware of the emergency / liferaft positions & signals sounded

14.It is imperative that all concerned are to be also familiar with the location ,use and operation of all

portable fire exthinguisher,SCBA set,protective clothing & gear ,location of fans /pump

stops,damper shut off & procedure.


15. Every good standard of watch keeping is expired from all engineer at all time,E/R is to be kept always

16.During watch keeping if any abnormal situation arises or if you have doubt in your mind,do not

Hesitate to call Chief Engineer any time ,watch keeping Engineers should comply with bridge orders

Without any delay incase any emergency situation arises, all Engineers to take all necessary

Precautions to prevent any accident / damage to machinery or personnel injure.

SAFETY :

1.All engine Room personnel are to read & follow the safety rules lay down in the company ‘s safety

Manual.

2.The company permits are to be completed before starting out any job.

3.Approriate safety permits are to be completed before starting out the jobs.

4.Oily rags & garbage are to be placed in a metal bins & covered,all type of garbage have to be storage.

5.All Engine Room personnel are to be familiarize with starting & operation of various safety equipment

6. Weekly & monthly safety routine to be familiarized diligently carry out & entries to be made in the

Safety register ,any defect to bring the notice of Chief Engineer.

7.Any spil of oil has to be cleaned immediately,no rags,cotton waste or any other garbage is to be

Allowing to left in any open space in Engine Room.

8.No Electrical work of any nature is permitted without isolating the circuit

9.Hot work permit & entry to enclose space ,all the records are to be signed by authorized personnel
