Reading and Writing Numbers in Symbols and in Words


How do you read and write number 64 821 in words and symbols?
The number 64 821 is read as” sixty-four thousand eight
hundred twenty-one.” In symbol, it is 64 821.

Remember:
- To read numbers, read the digits in the first period at the left, say
the period where the digits are. Then, say the digits in the units period.
- To write numbers from 10 001 to 100 000, the digits are separated
by a comma or space in group of 3 called periods starting from the
right.

Comparing Numbers Using Relation Symbols


When comparing two numbers, you can follow these steps:
1. Align the digits with the same place value.
2. Starting from the left, compare the digits in each place value.
3. The first pair of digits that are different values will determine
which number is grater or less.
> - is the greater than symbol < - is the less than symbol
= - is the equal symbol
