I. Introduction

Relocation survey usually done if some corner monuments of the property whether
lost, disturbed, removed, uprooted, destroyed, or any means. Relocation survey is also called
as reinstatement survey which is of the same purpose: to re-established the corners of the
boundary base from the technical description (TD) of the previously approved survey or base
from the title of the lot. Note that TD appearing in the title is also from the approved survey
(see Section 641 to Section 645, DAO 98-12 OR Section 146 to Section 157 of MLSP). May
it be Original Survey or any subsequent survey that was approved from the concerned agency.
Approved survey can be done thru DENR LMS regional office or Land Registration
Commission (LRC).

When conducting relocation survey, more or less the procedure is the same as conducting
Verification survey, but with additional task of setting or reinstating of lost or disturbed corners.

Stipulated therein in Section 146 of MLSP in the conduct of verification and relocation survey,
the Geodetic Engineer shall, among others:

a. Ascertain the position and description of the existing survey monument or marker,
buildings, fences, walls, and other permanent improvements, which are used to provide
evidence of original boundaries;

b. Give primary consideration to original survey marks (mojon), except were other
evidence, including original measurements, position of improvements, or statements by
occupants, suggest, that the original markers were incorrectly placed or have been disturbed;

c. Ascertain the position of buildings, fences, walls, or other permanent improvements


adversely affected by the determination of the boundaries;

d. Inform the parties concerned of the effect of the determination of the boundaries and
secure a statement from the parties that they have been informed of these findings, and

e. Include the submission of a narrative report under oath.
