Good day everyone!

I am pleasured to welcome you all to this year's Science Month

Virtual Culminating Activity with the theme, Riptide: Science Clubbing Steadfast Against
Raging Currents.

We all understand the importance of science in our day-to-day lives and the ways in
which it is transforming the world. In our continued commitment and enthusiasm to the
pursuit of knowledge, science is a staunch friend and ally that we resort to. For centuries,
science has been and still is very instrumental in uncovering the mysteries of the world. It
brought us closer to the understanding of different phenomena, fascinating processes, and
forces.

In this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is blindingly obvious that science is

indispensable for our response to and recovery from this crisis. It will surely contribute to
saving lives through development of effective vaccines, medications and treatment that can
help us to eventually put an end to this death-dealing virus. Hence, this calls for a great
effort to strengthen science education in our country to develop scientific literacy among
our people and engage our youth in science discoveries and innovations.

The changes brought about by the pandemic put many demands and challenges on
the teaching and learning of science that focus on inquiry and transfer of learning. This,
however, should not stop us! We will continue our mission as science educators. We will
remain steadfast despite getting caught in these raging currents. We will stay afloat and
swim parallel to the shore and escape this riptide together.

We are looking forward to our continued collaboration and partnership in

developing our learners, not only in becoming scientifically literate, but more so, as
members of a humane society. Thank you, and once again, welcome. May you all have
a fruitful and enjoyable scientific exploration. Keep safe, everyone!
