The Circle Privacy and Technology Usage Analysis Essay

While watching The Circle, there were many similarities with today's world. The use of

social media was very high and had a big influence on the characters. The influence was not

always good and showed a reality which our world could one day turn into. Watching the movie

can teach you a moral lesson on how to avoid our community depleting.

The movie was very similar to our society today in the way they both use social media.

All the characters rely on social media to communicate with each other and even their jobs at the

circle require it. Today's world social media has power, such as the number of followers you

have compared to another individual. In the film it began in the place today's world is in and at

the end, social media had complete control and power over everyone. This is why we must watch

what we do, so we do not end up the same.

In today's world social media is almost a way of life. People make a living off of it and

spend a good portion of their life using it. It is portrayed as a very positive source of

entertainment and is highly encouraged. Although some people might be blind to what is really

happening. Just like in The Circle, the characters are blind to what trap they are falling into. They

do not realize the privacy they are giving up and what people can take advantage of while they

are accessing their social media. So what I am getting at is that social media might be seen as a

positive, but if not careful it can turn negative very fast just as it did in the film.

Using social media can be very beneficial and helpful, but if used negatively can come at

a cost. For example, just like in the movie the characters are taken advantage of. The lesson you

can take away from this is that you can never be too private with your personal information.

Alway be careful with what you allow people to access, you can never be too careful. The Circle

took advantage of its employees and it is something to be aware of and avoid. This is all

something to remember and learn from the film.

Our society depends heavily on technology and the use of social media. Without it our

world will fall apart, but with too much our world will fall apart. The point is that our world

needs social media to survive but too much is not good. There is a line that is not to be crossed,

that line was crossed in The Circle when the agency decided to get to personal with Mae and her

pupils. We must take a look in the mirror every once in a while to make sure we are not crossing

that line in our world. In my opinion we are getting very close, although I do not know a lot

about what is going on, I think we need to give people space and give them their privacy. I think

if we stay on this same path our world can very easily turn into the same one as they have in The

Circle.

The Circle showed us a reality of what a world can look like when social media is used to

take away our privacy and personal information. It helped us learn a lesson about what we need

to watch for when using social media and that we need to protect ourselves. Our world is on the

edge right now as it is and if not careful it can easily go down the drain.
