The Circle

In the film The Circle there are a lot of different elements that can be found in today's society. A

few examples are what morals or lessons audience members should take away from The Circle

and whether or not I think this is where our society is headed.

I think there are a lot of very good morals or lessons that people should take away from

The Circle. The first one would be to know what kind of job you're getting yourself into. An

example of this in the movie is how Mae thinks she is getting into one of the best companies in

the world but in reality she is just working to help them take control of the whole society.

Another lesson would be to be careful what you're doing on social media because anything you

do or post can be brought up down the road even if you try and delete it. This is brought up in the

movie when Annie posts the picture of the chandeliers that Macer has made and he starts to get

backlash because of the deer antlers. The last lesson that I think this movie portrays is to get a

circle of close friends and trust in what they have to say to you don’t turn away from them. A

good example of this in the movie is when Annie is trying to help Mae realize what she is doing

with the transparency but Mae doesn’t listen to her and keeps distancing herself away from

Annnie.

The last element I will be talking about is whether or not I think this movie portrays how

society will look in the future. I believe that society will be like this to a certain extent but not

entirely. I believe that it is possible to be able to track people off of their social media apps like

they did in The Circle. I also think that it won’t be done because society would recognize what’s

going on and wouldn’t let them keep that close of an eye on them. Another thing that I don’t

think would ever be able to be done in today's society is how Mae went transparent. Nobody in

the world is perfect and they need their privacy to do things all humans do. Something that I

could see happening or would like to see is when they have Mae drink that juice so they can see

all her vitals and make sure she is healthy. I think this would be good because doctors will be

able to catch things going wrong with people before things get too out of control.

In conclusion there are a lot of elements that come up in The Circle that relate to today's

society and how social media and technology is used. We have talked about the morals and

lessons that came up in the movie and if I believe this has any indication on how technology will

look in the future.
