I. Essential Ideas

 What is belief? Simply, belief is something that an individual considers as the truth.
Beliefs have been formed based on our experiences and backgrounds.

What is conviction? A conviction is a firm belief that an individual has on a particular

subject. Convictions is usually a bit different to a belief because an individual becomes
convinced of something after he has thorough knowledge understanding of all the
available information.
LITERARY GENRES:

Proverbs: a proverbs or (salawikain) is a wise saying that expresses a truth about life. It is stated in the figurative
language and is usually given in rhyming coupletes.

Myths Legends

Myths are prose narrative which in the society in
which they are told, are considered to be truthful
accounts of what happened in the remote past. They
are accepted on faith; they are thought to be believed;
and they can be cited as authority in answer to
ignorance, doubt, or disbelief. Their main characters
are not usually human beings, but they often have
human attributes: they are animals, dieties, or culture
heroes, whose actions are set in an earlier word such
as sky or underworld.
Legends are prose narratives which, like myths, are
regarded as true by the narrator and the audience, but
they are set in a period considered less remote, when the
world was much as it is today. Legends are more secular
than sacred, and their principal characters are human.
They tell of migrations, wars and victories, deeds of past
heroes, chiefs, and kings, and succession in ruling
dynasties.

may have factual origins, while others are
completely fictional. But Myths are more
than mere stories and they save more
profound purpose in ancient and modern
cultures. Myhts are sacred tales that explain
the world and man’s experience.

or improvable story popularity taken as an
explanation of the origin of local phenomenon or
situation which is not necessarily verifiable but
historically traditionally believed.
