What is Aerobic Exercise?

Aerobic exercise is any physical activity that makes you sweat, causes you to breathe
harder, and gets your heart beating faster than at rest. It strengthens your heart and
lungs and trains your cardiovascular system to manage and deliver oxygen more
quickly and efficiently throughout your body. Aerobic exercise uses your large muscle
groups, is rhythmic in nature, and can be maintained continuously for at least 10
minutes. It refers to exercise, which is of moderate intensity, undertaken for a long
duration.
Aerobic Means "with OXYGEN" and refers to the use of oxygen in a muscle's energy-
generating process. Many types of exercise are aerobic and by definitions are
performed at moderate levels of exercise for extended periods of time.
Before going into the benefits of aerobic exercise, let's break down some key terms we
just mentioned. Cardiovascular system is made up of your heart and blood vessels
e.g ., arteries, veins, and capillaries that transports blood throughout the body. Aerobic
refers to how your body uses oxygen to sufficiently meet energy demands during
exercise.
Benefits of Aerobic Exercise
In addition to strengthening your heart and cardiovascular system, participation in
regular aerobic exercise has many health benefits. Aerobic exercise:
 Helps build a stronger immune system.
Most guys don't know that consistent aerobic exercise is research-proven
to keep your immune system strong and help your body ward off common
illnesses like the flu or a cold.

 Great Way to Burn Fat

Aerobics also increase your fat-burning capacity - long after you're done
exercising: By regularly doing aerobic exercise, your muscles develop a
higher number of mitochondria, which help you burn more fat at rest -
even when you're not exercising.

 Correlated with a Longer Lifespan

Aerobics help you live longer: According to the newest scientific research,
those who engage in aerobic exercise live longer than those who do not .

 Helps Improve Your Brain Function

Aerobics makes you smarter: New research also shows that aerobics
increases your brain's production of a molecule called Irisin that improves
memory and protects our brains against degeneration.

 Improves Cardiovascular Health

Aerobics makes your heart stronger: Aerobics train your heart to beat
more efficiently, so your heart doesn't have to work as hard. That's why
aerobically fit people have lower heart rates than non-fit people. In fact,
elite athletes often have resting heart rates as low as 40 beats per minute
(the average man over 40 is 90bpm).

 Decrease chance of disease

Aerobics ward off the major health risks: studies also show that aerobics
helps reduce your risk of diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure.
We are always reminded that exercise could do wonders for the body. Aerobics, a kind
of exercise which helps your body use more oxygen while maintaining your target heart
range, can definitely help a person live longer and healthier. There are studies showing
that 30 minutes of aerobics every day would benefit the body a lot. Performing regular
aerobic exercises would. This could also mean more energy whether for longer or
shorter periods of exercise or physical activities.

Examples of Aerobic Exercise

 Physical activity such as walking, jogging, indoor cycling, or aerobic dancing are
all examples of aerobic exercise that strengthen the heart and lungs, therefore
improving your body's utilization of oxygen .
