• Activity 2

1. What are the basic characteristics of Tanaga? (Minimum of 2 sentences)

The Tanaga is divided into four lines, each with seven syllables and the
same rhyme at the end of each line —- a 7-7-7-7 Syllabic verse with an AABB
rhyme scheme.  Its usage declined in the latter half of the 20th century, but was
revived through a collectivity of Filipino artists in the 21st century.

2. What do you think is the reason why he/ she is alone? (Minimum of 2
sentences)
I think the reason why he/she wants to be alone is because that person
wants to feel peace where he/she is far away from the city noise. I also think that
being alone will lighten that person’s mood and be able to rest first, somehow
without thinking of any problems.

3.Which is your favorite line? Why? (Minimum of 2 sentences)

The first line of the poem, which is “Tahimik at malayo” is my favorite
line because it simply reminds me of my satisfaction. I always wanted to feel
peace in my mind and stay away from the noise of the world.

4. Do you think the line number 3 and 4 contradict each other? Why or why not?
(Minimum of 2 sentences)
I believe that line number 3 and 4 doesn’t contradict each other
because each line indicates the way he/she is resting. Based on my experience,
taking a cup of coffee, always lets out my sigh of relief.

5. What is the subject/theme of the poem? Why? (Minimum of 2 sentences)

The theme of the poem maybe all about social-emotional loneliness
and life satisfaction. The reason why the theme is about that, is because he/she
may be wanted to feel satisfied with self-love and stay away from such noise and
stress.
