Nutrition and Balanced Diet

Our body is very complex that we need to develop and maintain each parts. What
comes to your mind when you speak about body? What is body? For me, body is the
physical and material figure of our self, it is composed of different parts that creates our
systems and holds our soul. But, what really is important in our body? In simple terms,
what is the first essential duty of man to his body? If man lacks consideration in
maintaining and developing his body, his existence is really affected. Maintaining our
heath is an essential aspect that is part of our mere existence. Given the fact that a body
cannot portray its full capacity if one aspect of life is not balance or imbalance.

This pandemic we struggle every day to secure and maintain our health. Health is wealth
as they say, why? Maintaining our health means prolonging our life, I believe that if our
body is healthy everything will follow smoothly. Imbalance health means imbalanced life,
and if your life is imbalanced then something is wrong with you. If something is wrong
with you, your life will be immediately affected. If your health is affected, then your body
may not function well. If your body cannot function well, your daily living will be unnatural.
If your daily living is affected, then your plans in life will be ruined.

Nutrition has an important role in maintaining our health. The basic needs of our being is
the energy that comes from the food we eat. Then the energy from the food we eat will
be our as they say “fuel” in order to live every day. Food is the main source of nutrients
that helps in preserving our health. Food is the basic requirement of the body to function
properly and well, that supports us to survive every day. The energy from the body is
used when we walk, dance, exercise, and more. But, this does not only mean that energy
is only used when we perform actions or movements. Every part of our body needs energy
even we do not move or acts, for example, in sleeping, breathing, and even meditating.
Our body still requires energy or fuel in order to function fully. But, the nutrition of our
body must be properly balanced, this can be done by means of healthy diet. What is a
healthy diet? As for the WHO or the World Health Organization, a healthy diet means
“…helps to protect against malnutrition in all its forms, as well as noncommunicable
diseases (NCDs), including such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer.” Keep in

mind that the mentioned noncommunicable diseases are very serious and health
threatening diseases.

A healthy diet includes eating food in balance situation, example eating exact amount of
carbohydrates such as rice, bread, and oats. Then, exact amount of protein that comes
from beans, tufo, and soymilk. Also, exact amount of fats that is contained in butter, oil,
cheese, and nuts. Then the exact amount of vitamins and minerals that is from fruits and
vegetables we eat.

Being healthy is one of the best way in preserving and enjoying our life.
