UNIT I: FITNESS AND WELLNESS FOR ALL

1. What is the importance of Fitness and Wellness?

Fitness and Wellness both plays a vital role in our life. Fitness means the ability of a
person to perform physically, it also includes power of body, strength of muscles and joints.
Fitness is very important for good health, besides feeling better mentally through exercising
can help us to protect ourselves from heart disease, stroke, obesity, diabetes, and high blood
pressure. Exercising also helps us to control stress better, increase and maintain bone density,
improve quality of life and keep us from getting sick. Being fit through exercising is very
important for us because it makes us feel happier, healthier, and less nervous. On the other
hand, wellness means health as a whole, technically includes our mental health, physical
health, emotional health and so on. In addition, fitness is only about having good body shape
while wellness refers about having good health. Moreover, wellness is very important as we
age because regular exercise and proper nutrition can help us to prevent ourselves from
variety of ailments including cardiovascular disease, obesity, and fall risk behavior.

2. How factor affect the Fitness and wellness?

The factors affect fitness and wellness of the human body by influencing our
capabilities to stay fit and healthy. Those factors contribute a lot in our health in order for us
to achieve the body composition and structure that we dreamed of. Proper exercising can
help us to strengthen our heart and improves circulation. It also helps us to lower the chance
of having heart diseases such as high cholesterol, coronary artery disease and heart attack.
Strength conditioning and muscular development affects our fitness and wellness by allowing
us to perform movements and activities that can help us to build stronger, healthier muscles
and bones. In addition, sleep is also a vital, often neglected component of every person's
overall health and well-being. It is also considered as a very important factor that influence
our fitness and wellness because it enables our body to repair and be physically fit to be
ready to take steps for another day.

3. How do you assess your Fitness and wellness?

We can assess our Fitness and Wellness by simply creating our own fitness and
wellness assessment that composed of series of test that can help us to determine our physical
fitness level as well as our wellness level. Fitness and Wellness testing is a great way to
monitor and assess our abilities as it relates to aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility. It can
also help us to understand how healthy we are and learn to set goals to improve our health-
related fitness. Moreover, exercising is one way to asses out fitness and wellness level, it can
also help us to maintain good body composition and reduce the chance if having diseases
caused by improper lifestyle.
UNIT II: SAFE AND SMART PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

1. What are the Components of Physical Fitness? How can we improve those components
of Physical Fitness?

The components of Physical Fitness are Health-related fitness components and Skill-
related fitness components. We can improve those components of physical fitness by doing
regular exercises such as running, walking, swimming, dancing and many other exercises. In
addition, we can also do and participate in different fitness trainings and programs that can
help us to develop and improve our health-related fitness as well as our health-related fitness.

2. What is the importance of Good Posture?

Good posture is very important because basically posture refers to the body's
alignment and positioning with respect to the ever-present force of gravity. Whether we are
standing, sitting or lying down gravity exerts a force on our joints, ligaments and muscles.
Good posture entails distributing the force of gravity through our body so no one structure is
overstressed. Sitting and standing with proper postural alignment will allow one to work
more efficiently with less fatigue and strain on your body's ligaments and muscles. Being
aware of good posture is the first step to breaking old poor postural habits and reducing stress
and strain on your spine. By putting this knowledge into practice we can prevent the
structural anatomical changes that can develop if poor posture is left uncorrected for many
years.

3. How can we develop our awareness on safety measures in the avoidance of risks of
injuries during physical activities?

We can develop our awareness on safety measures in the avoidance of risks of


injuries during physical activities by being more conscious and responsible in every
movement and actions that we make. Keeping ourselves safe and healthy is a one way of
being a responsible person. However, injuries are also part of exercising that can be
controlled at all times. But also there are a lot of safety precautions or guidelines that can
help us to develop or upgrade our understanding about the avoidance of risks of being injured
while doing physical activities. It is also very important for us to focus in very physical
activities that we are going to perform each day. Following safe exercising guidelines will
also develop our awareness and ideas in preventing injuries during physical activities.
4. How would you manage your stress level as a College student?

Stress in college is inevitable. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of


America, 80% of college students frequently or sometimes experience stress daily. Stress is also a
contributing factor to poor academic performance for students. As a College students we can
develop coping strategies to combat stress triggers and improve their experience while in school.
Long-term stress can have detrimental effects if left unmanaged. Not only can it affect our mental
and physical health, but also our grades and relationships with other people. Identifying and
understanding where our stress comes from can help us to better manage it. Here are some
examples on how I manage my stress level as a college student, having a great rest and sleep is
one way to prevent ourselves from too much stress, focusing on our health and nutrition is also
consider as a step to avoid stress and anxiety, next, is the self care, it is considered as one of the
most important way for us to manage our stress level and lastly manage time properly and being
organized college student will also help us to prevent cramming and being stress while doing our
school works. As a college student we have a lot of tasks to be done not only for school but also
for our own life, learn to manage our time properly and also taking good care of ourselves is a
must.

5. If being physically fit is important, how can you manage your time as college student?

Time is very important in college that's why as much as possible we need to know how to
balance and prioritize our tasks properly in order for us to be on time and productive. As a
college student it is very hard for me to manage my time but I always push my self to be more
productive and time conscious in order for me to totally know how to set my goals on track. Here
are some of things that I do to manage my time and also to become healthy and physically fit at
all times. First, is that I always plan tasks or school works early as possible because I really
wanted to finish everything on time without stress and cramming. Next, is I always prioritize my
studies, honestly speaking it is very hard to focus only to my studies but I know that focusing to
my studies can truly lead me to success. In addition, I also make sure that even though I'm busy I
also set some time to exercise even just for 20-30 minutes every day. I also push myself to eat
more nutritious and healthy foods and to have a proper rest and sleep in order for me to stay fit
physical as well as mentally and emotionally.
