Why regular physical activity is important

1. Performing regular physical activities boost physical fitness and wellness. Of course, we all desire
a good health. As they say, health is wealth, and i couldn’t agree more. When we perform regular
physical activities, sometimes- or most of the times even, we use our bodies in its full capacity
and capability. With this, we should always make sure that they function well. Having physical
fitness and wellness will determine our capacity to adapt, respond, and complete a certain
physical challenges or tasks efficiently, without any unnecessary hindrances or ailments, and
having the balance of health elements in our lives.

2. Performing regular physical activities improve our mental health. Physical activities encourage us
to spend less time in front of the television and in our phones, or a moment away from the
overwhelming works and academics we have, which is -probably- the main causes of our stress.
When we are doing physical activities, we try our best to block negative thoughts and distract
ourselves from the daily worries. So, physical activities are means of relaxation and stress relief
that can reduce the feelings of anxiety and depression. And it also increases the levels of happy
chemicals in our brain, such as serotonin, endorphins and stress hormones that is a key
component of our healthy mental state.

3. Performing regular physical activities is good for maintaining the optimum body weight. If we
correlate our regular physical activities with proper diet, it will result in the prevention of excess
weight gain as well as in maintaining weight loss, preventing obesity. This is because we burn
calories when we do our regular physical activities. The calories that we eat and drink must equal
to the energy that we burn. We can reap the benefits of a healthy body weight just by getting
more active throughout our days, of course, depending on the intensity and the regular of the
activities.

4. Performing regular physical activities develops our physical components. This will improve our
abilities that are needed to keep our physical bodies and muscles to be in its best form.
Specifically: cardiovascular endurance shows how well our heart, lungs, and muscles perform
during moderate to high-intensity of physical activities. Muscular strength will determine the
amount of force our muscles can produce. Muscular endurance is the ability of the muscles to
perform continuous without fatiguing. Flexibility is the ability of each joint to move. And body
composition is the amount of fat mass compared to lean muscle mass, bone, and organs.
5. Performing regular physical activities increase the cognitive functioning. This includes the
learning, thinking, reasoning, remembering, problem solving, decision making, and attention,
memory and brain function in general, as we age. This is because, as we engage in more activities,
we learn new things and it sharpens our thinking of what to do in the certain situation. Moreover,
physical activities stimulate our body into releasing proteins and other chemicals that improve
the structure and function of our brain. We become aware of what we are doing and become
alert of our surroundings, a critical factor of a desirable healthy life.

6. Performing regular physical activities helps our cardiovascular system to work more efficiently.
When we do physical activities, it increases the blood flow in our body, raising the oxygen levels,
leaving us to have to acquire more oxygen and nutrients to our tissues to sustain the need of our
body. When these physical activities become regular, it will eventually improve the circulation of
our blood, decreases heart rate and blood pressure, and increases the efficiency of the heart in
general. This helps lower the risk of various cardiovascular diseases such as heart diseases (high
cholesterol, coronary artery disease, heart attack, etc.).

7. Performing regular physical activities builds stronger bones, joints, and ligaments. The more
physical activities we perform, the more our bones adapt to the movements by building more
cells. And more healthy cells will result to a well body functions, reparation of itself, a well
production of new body tissue, and many more. Strong bones and muscles will also decrease the
risk of injury during activities. In addition, active adults experience less joint stiffness and
improved flexibility in performing activities and will slow the loss of bone density that comes with
age and lower risk of developing osteoporosis in the long run.

8. Performing regular physical activities helps improve a better balance and coordination. Doing
balance and muscle-strengthening activities in addition to moderate-intensity aerobic activity can
help reduce your risk of falling or of any injury in general, because during each movement of
physical activities, different parts of the body will take turns in playing the role of a stabilizer and
a mover. This will allow smooth movements to be executed without compromising one’s balance
and stability. With regular and proper execution, we can practice our balance and coordination
better, until such time that we can control our movements without unnecessary difficulties.

9. Performing regular physical activities helps improve posture. We are given a chance to stand up
from sitting and crouching after a long time (just like in online class or work from home) and
perform activities that will relax our bodies. When we are physical doing physical activities, we
have to make sure that our bodies parts are in the right places so that we reduce the risk of
injuries. With regular physical activities, we are able to get used to a good posture that we are
able to actually use it even when we are not doing any activities.
10. Performing regular physical activities boosts our physical energy. When we engage more in
physical activities, it increases our body's energy supply because physical activities get our heart
rate up and boost oxygen circulation inside our body. Scientifically, when our body feels the need
of increase of oxygen, it supports the mitochondria's energy production effectively and even help
our body to function better, allowing the energy produced to be used more efficiently. When we
are moving our bodies in a regular basis, we can feel that we are more energized, productive, and
even an increase stamina to do more activities.

11. Performing regular physical activities improves sleeping patterns. With our bodies well-
functioned and stress relieved, we are able to sleep peacefully, eliminating unnecessary body
