1. Purpose of Document

 This technical document covers the activity of ZTE_2G BTS VLAN CHANGE in the BSC’s for
Circles. The purpose of this document is to describe the actions needed for addition of 2G BTS VLAN
change in ZTE BSC’s.

2. Objective

 The objective of this MOP is to provide the user as to how to perform ZTE_2G BTS VLAN CHANGE
in BSCs.

3. Scope
 The scope of this process document is to present the process ZTE_2G BTS VLAN CHANGE in BSCs,
which is to be observed by SNOC, for ZTE based circles and Corporate Team.
 This process is for Vodafone Managed Circles Only.

4. Resources

 NETNUMEN Applications via SRAS.

 BSS Engineer should be technically equipped for BSC activity.
 SPOC’s details ( Circle & SNOC)

5. 2G BTS VLAN Change

5.1 Pre-requisites

 Pre check the plan in day time. (SNOC Responsibility).

 BSC should be in healthy condition. If any critical/major alarms reported same shall be escalated to
INM/Circle team immediately for rectification
 CR needs to be approved from all concern before 17::00 hrs.
 Activity Owners should be technically equipped to perform the activity.
 All changes should be done through SRAS.
 CR data should be as per attached format.( Get BTS NAME VLAN plan xml one day advance from
RF team)

5.2 Pre execution checks

Check for any incorrect or missing parameter in the license file given by circle.
(Validation Step through NETNUMEN).
Check if BSC name specified matches with BSC NUM specified.
Take Pre Logs: Take all the required pre-logs of Planned BSC’s – SNOC responsibility

Check Cell Status from Status Management of BSC >> BTS

Query SCTP Link Status via Dynamic Management of OMMB >> Query SCTP

Check VLAN Mapping via Configuration Management >> IP Layer Config List

Check current Alarm via Alarm monitoring.

5.3 Detailed Job Description

 ZTE_2G BTS VLAN CHANGE is the process of doing the CHANGE of 2G BTS VLAN in
Parameter etc.
 The ZTE_2G BTS VLAN CHANGE is done via NETNUMEN.
5.4 Impact on Service
 Outage Involved: YES
 Outage Severity: Major
 Outage Severity in case of fallback: Total
 Outage Time & Duration: 20 mins

5.5 Detailed step-by-step procedures

Befote going to change the VLAN ID for BTS need to check the SCTP LINK and CELL status.

Step 1:Before start the VLAN Change activity DEACTIVATE the BTS at OMMB & BSC Level.

Before modifying the VLAN we need to deactivate the BTS to avoid unwanted alarms

Put Maintenance status of GSM in “Fault Testing” from Managed Network Element in OMMB

We Have to put Cell in FM Testing in BSC from Cell Maintain Status Management

Step 2: Check VLAN Mapping via Configuration Management >> IP Layer Config List

Step 3: ADD Required VLAN in Ethernet Link Layer List in Configuration Management.

Go to Configuration Management >> Ethernet Link Layer

Modify & ADD Required VLAN ID in Ethernet Link Layer

Node: Before change the BTS VLAN kindly check the gateway IP is for BTS or not.

Step 4: Then Select Your Required VLAN & Modify VLAN in 2G IP Layer Configuration.

Go to Configuration Management >> IP Layer Configuration.

 Then Select Your Required VLAN & Modify VLAN

Step 5: Then Synchronize Modified Data

5.6 Roll Back Plan

 In case of Roll back the above plan is activated with changed sector parameter values
(i.e. change the license to previously present)
 Roll out should be completed before maintenance window i.e 0:00-5.00 hrs
 Roll back plan should be decided/activated before 03:30 hrs.
