1. Purpose of Document

 This technical document covers the activity of 4G ENodeB Software Up gradation


Implementation in the EnodeB’s for Circles. The purpose of this document is to describe
the actions needed for 4G ENodeB Software Up gradation plan implementation in ZTE
EnodeB’s.

2. Objective

 The objective of this MOP is to provide the user as to how to perform 4G ENodeB
Software Up gradation Plan Implementation in the EnodeB’s

3. Scope
 The scope of this process document is to present the process 4G ENodeB Software Up
gradation Plan Implementation in the EnodeB’s, which is to be observed by SNOC, for
ZTE based circles and Corporate Team.
 This process is for Vodafone Managed Circles Only.

4. Resources
 NetNumen Applications via SRAS.
 SPOC’s details ( Circle & SNOC)

5. Schema/Frequency Plan Implementation

5.1 Pre-requisites
 Pre Validation of Plan in day time. (SNOC Responsibility).
 ENodeB‘S should be in healthy condition. If any critical/major alarms reported same
shall be escalated to INM/Circle team immediately for rectification
 CR needs to be approved from all concern before 17:00 hrs.
 Activity Owners should be technically equipped to perform the activity.
 All changes should be done through SRAS.

5.2 Pre execution checks.


 Take a Pre check in day time.

 If any critical/major alarms reported, shall be escalated to INM/Circle team immediately
for rectification before activity.
 Coordinate with all involved team (BSS, and RF) for their readiness.

5.3 Detailed Job Description


 4G ENodeB Software Up gradation plan implementation is the process of doing Software
upgrade from old version to next version
 The Software Up gradation plan is done with the help of tools like NETNUMEN and
activating the plan.
 The process is done by loading the data in background in the Enodeb’s and activating in
the outage Windows.

 Outage Involved: Yes
 Outage Severity: Major
 Outage Severity in case of fallback: Total
 Outage Time & Duration: 5 Min per site

 Step 1: First Open “Software Version Management” and select “Query Task Management”

 Step 2: Select “Create Query Task”

 Steps 4: After completion of Query Task and check Package Running Status of FDD

 STEPS 5: Select “Upgrade Task Management” for Software Upgradation

 STEPS 6: Select NE and choose Target Package Version for FDD. Select Download, Pre-Activate and
Apply Activation in operation.

 STEPS 7: After Completion of Upgrade, Query again to check Running Version

5.6 POST CHECKS:


 Check the alarms whether any critical alarms present or not.
 Check the cell status in all technology
 Check the version whether new Software version is Running or not

5.7 Roll Back Plan


 In case of Roll back the above plan is activated with changed parameter values( i.e. change the values to
previously present)
 Roll out should be completed before maintenance window i.e. 05:00
 Roll back plan should be decided/activated before 03:30 am.

5.10 PERFORMANCE MONITORING


 After implementing the 4G ENodeB Software Up gradation, performance monitoring is carried out for
06:00 hrs and 07:00 hrs in comparison to the previous day’s same period to check any abnormalities in KPI.
