EXCERCISE 1 - POEM
Name : Magdalena Vania
Class : SOCIAL 1

Read the poem and answer the questions below!

1. Who wrote the poem?

John Godfrey Saxe.

2. What does this poem tell you about?

Humans have a tendency to claim absolute truth based on their limited,
subjective experience as they ignore other people's limited, subjective
experiences which may be equally true.

The final verse explains that the elephant is a metaphor for God, and the
various blind men represent religions that disagree on something no one has
fully experience. I think the moral of the poem is that one must consider all
perspectives in order to clearly see a situation.

3. Does the poem have rhymes?

Yes it does.

4. How many verses does this poem consist of?

There is 8 verse in the poem.

5. Why do people write a story in poetry form?

In my opinion, some people write poetry to express them selves (in a beautiful
way). Sometimes, they have difficulty saying it, so they express it in a poem. They
also write poems for fun, or it's just their style to write poems instead of songs or
books. It's sometimes to record for history, poems in Ancient China has a story
behind it or a important lesson. Sometimes people like to entertain people with
poems. The purpose is to express themselves as people, like artists express
themselves in painting.

Some people write poems for fun. But some people use poems to say something
they just can't say out loud. Some people write sorry notes in a poetry way. Some
people write a love poem to the ones they love. So people use poems to express
something they can't say out loud.

Another reasons, maybe because we could write our ideas down but only writing
really less. It also should make sense.
It is also a type of art because you could describe a thing and then when the
reader closes their eyes, they should be able to see the scene or thing that your
writing about.
