What is Suffix?

A suffix is a group of letters added to the end of the root word. A root word is a word
or word part that can form the basis of new words through the addition of suffixes as
you can see in the chart below.

Suffix –er and –or changes the meaning of a word.

Or a baker who bakes bread that taste like honey.
Be a doctor that helps the sick and needy,
Or be a dancer that dances in harmony.

To be a movie director would be a great!


Many exciting movies, I would create.
I can be a decorator who makes every room pretty,
Or be a potter who makes potteries, so crafty.

Truly, there are a lot of choices the world can offer.


Every duty is special, every job differs.
But if you ask me who I want to be in the future,
I just want to be a genuinely happy creature!
