PROBLEM AREAS

Customers may not be able to browse the details or user experience on the internet when they want to do online
purchases or research for their integrated stove.

It is hard to meet special demands of consumers in different areas because of the limited product types.

If one part of the integrated stove is broken, consumers need to spend more money on repairing it due to its
integrated structure.

It is hard to clean the cooking hood because consumers can not disassemble it by themselves.

The dimensions of the integrated stove can not fit some kitchen layouts.

The cooking fire exhaust pipe occupies storage spaces in the kitchen.

The operation system is inconvenient to consumers.

PRELIMINARY PROBLEM STATEMENT

The rapid development of technology drives consumers' demands of new kitchen appliances. While the

emergence of integrated stoves have been welcomed by consumers, there are plenty of complaints about its one-

piece design, cost of maintenance, intelligence and installation limit.

BASIS OF THE NEED

The integrated stove represents the evolution of kitchen appliances. It

breaks the traditional structure of the kitchen layout. It also provides
consumers with a new cooking experience. As an emerging product in the
industry, it still has some inadequacies. After figuring out the problem areas,
we offer some solutions to improve the product which brings convenience
to consumers. To satisfy all aspects of customers' needs, we must consider
the user's experience, as a vital reference, to determine our solution for the
problems which customers have. Vastly increasing the usage rate and
competition with other household kitchen appliances.
DESIRED OUTCOME AND BENEFICIARIES

We want to change the integrated stove industry, figure out the customer's
problem, and make this product occupy the industry's market. The most
significant outcome is that we can reduce all risks we might have when
customers use this product. The goals are to reduce the cost, eliminate the
peril, and improve the technology to better serve the customers. Meanwhile,
we contribute to enhancing the product’s function, acknowledging that
various functions serve a variety of customer groups.

We consider every aspect for the customers, from buying behavior to user
experience. Integrated stoves are currently the emerging trend, while we are
committed to making it the main trend.
JUSTIFY THE NEED — Does it fill gaps within the market,
offer organization, or improve the current situation?

Create detailed information and visual experiences on the websites for

online consumers
Increase the diversification of the product to meet different groups’
demands
Reduce cleaning time
Save more money on maintenance
Save more kitchen storage space
Build a close relationship between product and user
Improve the operating system to offer intelligent experiences
Create a more efficient, interactive interface
JUSTIFY THE NEED — What other company benefits might
there be to addressing this need?

Increased income from expanded consumer group

Increased online sales from more efficient interactive websites or apps
Help companies occupy more market sales due to better user experience
Better reputation due to functional product
JUSTIFY THE NEED — Are there implementation
issues when working to meet this need?

It is difficult to change the fixed thinking of customers. When a new

product appears, some customers may not use it or believe in this
product
It is difficult to convert online purchases into offline purchase rate
Modularity can present design and engineering challenges

IDENTIFY A JUSTIFICATION

The need for integrated advanced kitchen appliances comes from the growing population and shrinking spaces. A lot of consumers
prefer to use less space and have more convenient user experience with their kitchen. It is the place where family and friends get
together the most so having space available is important.

As smart appliances become common in every household, intercommunication between them will improve their safety, save the
user’s time and improve their cooking. This creates a sort of disconnect from user/product interaction which is solved with the ease
of maintenance (Fix It Yourself) and cleaning by the user, without the need to send the appliance to a specialist. Simple design and
modularity are key to solve this issues.

Online sales are growing exponentially every year, as digital experiences also advance and are becoming more interactive, the
implementation of a online sales with the possibility of customizing and visualizing your appliances in a realistic way is a great
advantage for the customer and for the business, saving them costs and time. Creating an appropriate and honest online image
strengthens trust from customers and reinforces brand identity and facilitates sales.
IDENTIFY A JUSTIFICATION

Customers now like choosing and customizing their appliances. Sometimes they want a dishwasher instead of an oven, or an air
fryer instead of a microwave. Together with the online platform, the customer will be able to choose the appliances according to
their needs, the space they have available and the look they want.

Fulfilling these parameters will help the organization increase sales and facilitate production methods. With the online sales
system, the organization will have more precise data to determine the needs and wants of their customer as they get familiar with
the system, so they can keep innovating the most sold products. The user gets familiar with the organization and the organization
with the user.

The consumer should always get the most benefit when using the integrated system, while the organization also keeps growing
because of them.

BEHAVIOR AND INFORMATION EXCHANGE AMONG YOUR TARGET USERS OR CONSUMERS

Consumers consider that function of convenience is important which means kitchen appliances are supposed to
shorten the cooking time.
Consumers consider that regular cleaning of kitchen appliances is essential to prevent accumulation and future

problems.
Consumers consider that choosing kitchen appliances for their family should be a rewarding experience, but it

must also meet their lifestyle and kitchen aesthetic requirements. When they look at all options from energy-

efficient, high-end designer models to low-cost models, buying kitchen appliances can be a daunting task.
POWER AND POLICY (AND HOW THESE
INTANGIBLES INFLUENCE EMOTION)

There are some very strict regulations to determine where consumer

equipment can go, how much space is required for safety or ventilation,
and when and under what circumstances a licensed electrician or fueler
is required.

Distance between water and power points

Gas installation and use
Dishwasher installation guidelines and regulations
Cooktop and oven installation requirements

These policies totally impact consumer's user experience and

buying behavior, which means consumers will spend time on these
areas and take care of them when they are purchasing. It perhaps
complicates the way they are using it.

Business need: Kitchen appliance innovation
Objective: Develop an appliance(s) to meet customers needs

Category:
Kitchen appliances

Target audience:
Consumers ages 18-90. Middle class income and up. They value cooking but have little
time and energy to do so.

Design strategy:
Create a cooking appliance that promotes safety, efficiency, connectivity, and flexibility,
while adhering to a variety of cooking styles.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS | Efficient Range Hood

Cooking smoke is always a big problem people face when

they are cooking. It will increase the probability of respiratory
and heart disease. So it is important for people to equip a

high-quality range hood to reduce the bad impact of cooking

smoke pollution.

In order to improve the efficiency of the range hood, we add

two smoke vents beside the stoves. They will open when
people turn on the range hood. This range hood will reach an

almost 100% smoke exhausting rate which solves the

damage of cooking smoke.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS | Apps control overall kitchen appliances

In order to people are super busy in the future, since the most significant thing is that

people can take control by their phones on everything in terms of saving time.

What's your first thought when you see this feature?

Does this possible solution figure out your issue of smoke exhaust?
Do you think this method is convenient enough for you during cooking?

Survey Result

Through our survey, we surveyed 2 different customer groups. Overall, the consumers most consider a function that could be able to bring
the convenience and save their time as possible. If the integrated stove includes different functions, they prefer to purchase as well even
perhaps it may increase the selling price. Besides, the smart system is also their essential consideration. If most functions can be controlled
and manipulated by smartphones, they would give a high concentration on this creative design.
