A compare and contrast essay looks at the similarities and differences of two or more
objects. You will compare and contrast two theories, two methods, two historical periods,
tow produces, two services, two devices/equipment, two characters in a novel, etc.
Sometimes the whole essay will compare and contrast, though sometimes you may be
asked to draw only the similarities or the differences. See the examples below.
